4-6 7-6(5) 6-0

Nearly stuffed it up!
He was down 4-6, 2-4, so I think it's his opponent that stuffed it up. Great reovery from the young man.

True, boys singles doesn't mean much, but it does IMO when the winner is just 15 years of age. That's a terrific achievement and shows what a great future he has ahead of him.

Hopefully he can follow in the footsteps of previous boys grand slam winners such as Alexandre Sidorenko, Dusan Lojda, Jérémy Chardy, Todd Reid, Florin Mergea, Carlos Cuadrado, Roman Valent, Julien Jeanpierre, Daniel Elsner, Oliver Mutis, Ben Ellwood, Jacobo Diaz, Scott Humphries and who could ever forget 2002 aus open boys champ Clement Morel.

You reckon? What about 2005 aus open boys winner, 15 year old Donald Young. I think his only tour win so far has come against Chris Guccione.

I'm still not sure what to make of Tomic. He has a world class backhand, a deceptivly powerful serve, good reader of the play, but he has a forehand that defies the rules of every tennis textbook. Hope the kid makes it, but the transition from juniors to seniors claims many along the way.

The kid has already taken some senior scalps. He was offered a chance to qualify for the mens draw at the open but could only manage one win (needed 3) against a top 150 player.
Yeah he is only 15 so hes not yet physically mature to take on the men as yet, although is already 6ft 1. Needs gyms work. Has a very good backhand and his forehand is perculiar (sometimes gets sidespin). Will be tall enough for a gun serving game. Knows how to volley (I taught him that at 10 ;)) and should win wimbledon juniors with a serve-volley game. His weakest surface is clay and hes currently slowly developing his groundstrokes for more heavy topspin so he can be more competitive on clay.

Very confident lad who has the drive and wants to be number 1. If all things go well he'll crack the davis cup team this year and the top 10 before he reaches 20. Still long way to go.

You really don't want to go too far over the top with expectation, but IMO his junior resume is the best we've seen from an Aussie player in the modern era.

He's won three Orange Bowl's, which AFAIK no other player in the world has ever done. He is by far the best 15 year old in the world, has won a junior slam in only his 4th attempt at one - becoming the youngest player EVER to do so, has already beaten someone ranked in the top 150, and has a mixture of size (already 190cm) arrogance and hunger that IMO you need to truly succeed.

Barring injury/going off the rails, will be a top 50 player, without a doubt. Above that - there's a thousand variables between now and him reaching full maturity that will dictate how much higher than that he can go.

Well they showed an interview when he was 12 and he said by the time he was (can't remember what age) that he was gonna win all the grand slams and be #1. But it wasn't in an arrogant sort of manner, it was a bit of tongue in cheek and just mucking around. Doesn't seem arrogant or up himself IMO but just confident which he needs to be.

Well thats probably what you expect 12 year olds to say:D...

But if you say something similar like that when your 26 or so... then it must be arrogant.
