Smith by a country mile. No one has been as consistent (Heppell included - he has dropped off significantly with the rest of his side) and especially to be so good in such a bad team.

I don't know if you guys have been watching him closely enough, but Atley is going to be some player.

He was crucial in Norths fightback v Essendon on saturday.

Heppel went missing.

At this point I'd like to admit that when Goldy got the little (special) handpass out to Atley (who had run 40m to get to the contest) to dinky kick to Bastinac which eventuated in a game sealing free kick, all of my mates on Lv2 Aisle 7 (in front of the Essendon box) turned and gave it to Hird.

I was unfazed by the Hird riling and turned to Adrian Dodoro, eyeballed him and mouthed the name "Shaun Atley" 3 times. He tried to look away but couldn't manage it and after the third time gave me a nod and a shoulder shrug.

At that point I realised that this was only the first of many times that Adrian would come to regret the decision to draft the uncontested ball user instead of the hungry young kid who sidesteps veteran taggers at will.

I don't think people are even capable of appreciating how good what he's doing is. So unbelievably underrated already.

Last I heard, he was Top 10 in the AFL for centre bounce clearances...

Bit of a smokey but I think Alex Johnson has had a really good year when you consider he is a tall skinney backman who played most of his Jr footy as a fwd.

Has so much poise you'ed think he had played 100 games already. Swans backline isn't the easiest place to get a gig either.

Dropped off in recent games due to injury, but when he was fit was amazing.

Why is Josh Caddy up there? He hasn't played a game all season, and won't. Foot injury. Appreciate the huge list of names, though.

David Swallow has been consistently good, but having Smith out would be a bigger blow for us right now. Gotta go Zac Smith.

Zac Smith is a first year player but also mature age.

He would probably top the list but is the comparison fare.

Swallow is a beastly clearance player at centre bounces and very hard at it. Suffers a little because of the team he plays for, copped heavy attention from day 1.

Earlier it was Heppel v Darling for consistent output but Darling has dropped off a little probably due to the intensity of his game since both are sensationally fit.
