Not just at AFL level. But that you've dished out, or unfortunately, were on the receiving end of.

Roo would have got 8 weeks for that these days, and an additional two for wearing that shirt.

Gave a good hip and shoulder playing A-Grade some time ago. Good, clean, fair hit. The silly campaigner lined me up, but he got nailed and was out for the count. Conversely a cheeky dog act happened to me a couple of years later. Didn't see it coming and it was a whack on my Jaw. Got up like good old Kostya at 9 min 30 odd in this vid

As my mate then poleaxed the silly bastard.

Here's some more '' Crackers ''

Michael Voss on Alan Richardson
Ray Card on Keith Greig
Stan Magro on Jezza

Me on the Boulder full foward, pre-season 1989. Poor bugger, called play on but I think I broke half the bones in his body. Collarbone and cheek for sure.

Ray Card on Keith Greig 78 is the key hit

Fair in 2019?

I was once chasing a high ball going over my head, and leapt flat out backwards to mark it. Problem was, I was playing HBF and as I leapt I looked back I saw the FF and FB steaming straight at me.

Absolutely smashed me. Got smeared all over the turf. Couldn't breathe for minutes.

Must have looked pretty spectacular though. Got BOG from the local radio station and I didn't do shit all else all day

When I made this thread, good Old Byron sprung to mind.

I think the AFL changed some rules because of the ferocity in which Pickett was lining up blokes.
I have never seen another footballer (maybe Ablett) hit with such force and speed. He KO'd players every year in succession.

Brent Guerra was a dirty player in his early days. Constantly came off the square and made a beeline at players. Hit with incredible force too.

'77. Right in front of me. Magro was '79, iirc.

You were correct, '78. I've always thought it was '77. That one coupled with the Magro hit brought about rules changes for head high contact.

Would love to see this footage.

Recall one game Eagles v Hawks in Perth. Back in the early 1990's Pritchard was chasing someone running through the centre square and one Eagle bumped him and he flew sideways and another Eagke was there as well and bumped Pritchard mid flight and he helicoptered 360 degrees horizontal a meter off the ground.

Freak combination of players flying everywhere.

Was. A bloody good bump.

Remember Gary Ablett lined up Nicky Winmar with a massive hip and shoulder on the Brownlow Stand wing back in 1989. I swear Winmar did a full 360 in the air before hitting the deck Ablett hit him so hard. Was a thing of beauty.

Probably the highlight of my senior career has been a similar incident. We were always a good junior side but the seniors dont have the cash to compete so have only played a couple finals games and finished with a few wooden spoons. Hadnt won for close to two years at one stage when we are in front by a couple points deep in the final quarter. I'm playing back flank and its only really me, my direct opponent and the massive FB and FF inside forward 50. The more courageous part about the whole thing was actually leaving my man who if the midfielder was a decent decision maker would have kicked to and I would have looked like a fruit loop but I got knocked out taking the mark as the FF steamrolled me but I somehow kept the footy wrapped up in my chest. Milked the clock a bit and was actually given a 50m by the ump (was a bullshit 50m, FF was just going the ball and was twice the size of me but I still took it).

Ray Card on Keith Greig, about 2:11 sec in. Also enjoy the highlights of Greig, as smooth a mover as there has been in the game.
