Mason Wood was a gun 7 years ago. But got a massive concussion falling on his head after a mark and hasn't been quite the same player since. he was the first player I've seen since Carey who reminded me of Careyt in the things he did. Wood might do one or two a game where Carey would do 15, but he still did some cool stuff on the footy field.

Time to revisit this thread at just over a quarter way through the season.

I wonder if people want to change their votes.

Each of the four new coaches has things they and their Clubs can feel good about.

For me Lyon is doing a superb job with an injury riddled team,

Scott has the Dons playing good footy including in defensive

The Giants were tipped as bottom four by many folks. Kingsley has them playing solid competitive footy.

Clarkson has the toughest task in footy. Two wins to start the season was pretty good. The team has been more competitive in their losses which is a marked improvement on 2022.

Kingsley's Giants have stormed home late in the season to impress. Lyon's Saints going through the motions during the season to end up in the finals and playing the Giants at home, Scott's Bombers started off well and were competitive throughout but fell so hard late, and Clarko's Kangas... barely recording a heartbeat but go into the pre-season on a high with belief.

Despite the fact that the finals is still open for both, you'd say the winner in two weeks will be claimed the best for 2023.

Kingsley's Giants have the list. I'm not too impressed. They have unbelievable talent on that squad. Kelly, Himmelber, Taylor, Coniglio, Green, Hogan etc.

I was impressed with what Scott did with Essendon for 3/4's of the season more, tbh.

May be a long bow - but i'd also say Kingsley has demonstrated just how poor a coach Leon Cameron was.

A good coach with that incredible list would have made multiple grand finals and likely snagged at least one. Kingsley's GWS record with a lesser list than Cameron had at the GWS peak shows Cameron's time at the Giants was a huge waste.

Seriously it's actually great GWS have actually found a bitter rival already in their short history aside from The Swans.

Always enjoy games between the Bulldogs and Giants, usually entertaining sometimes spiteful events!
