I must like prog metal because I have the cd Dimension Hatross by Voi Vod.

For me, it wouldn't be anyone such as Dream Theater, they have released some fairly disappointing albums. I don't rate Tool as nearly as highly as other people on this board, although I can respect Aenima and Lateralus. I don't have a favourite prog artist, but these are the albums I consider to be the best of each artists work, which are as follows

I like every Opeth album, but Blackwater Park stands out for me, along with Still Life

Favorites for me Symphony X and Opeth.

Hoped that Symphony X would have toured down here with Dream Theater when they came in January but wasnt to be. Hopefully they'll tour here soon

imo Fates Warning - Awaken The Guardian would go a very close 2nd to Lateralus as the best.It is probably the best metal album of the 80's as well,yes,better than Metallica,Maiden,Megadeth and Slayer.

BTBAM played on Sat nite here in Brissy, but I missed for a multitude of reasons. Absolutely epic by all accounts

Just recently got into BTBAM, great band. As for the original question, I'd say Opeth and Dream Theater are the best prog metal bands going around. I don't know whether i'd call Tool prog metal, maybe more prog hard rock but that's semantics i guess, I'm a big Tool fan though!
