Am thinking 66 games is a tad optimistic, although after 2018's draft we may need another 2 seasons to really start challenging.

That makes me wonder who of our senior mids will still be a blue.

Average stats after round 4 (minus Geelong v Hawks)

3rd in tackles
4th for intercepts
4th in marks
6th in in50 tackles

15th for clearances
16th for contested possessions
17th rebound 50s
4th turnovers
Last for disposals (obviously affected by the wet game)
17th for goals (ahead of collingwood but ditto above)

It's amazing that we can be one of the best intercept teams in the afl but be terrible at rebound 50s. We obviously butcher it once we move it fast after a turnover.

To be 3rd in tackles just says how far we've come after round 1 and how much we are buying into the pressure aspect of what we wish to be defined by.

A loss against Gold Coast was disappointing, but 12 youth players and promising signs from debutants and our youngest crop all showed signs. The average overall took a dip but that is to be expected due to another 0 game debut oveall we saw big jumps from Plowman, Samo, Fish and Silvagni for more evidence we are on the right track.

Sam Docherty collected 26 disposals at 80% efficiency with 13 marks, including 3 contested and 4 rebound 50's. Jack Silvagni had 14 disposals at 100% efficiency, 10 marks as he provided excellent link up play going forward, impressively he managed three goals including a ripper from outside fifty (with a lucky bounce) in a breakout game. Patrick Cripps continued to look laboured at time, spending a fair bit up forward in a match where he only found 17 disposals, 5 clearances but still laid 9 tackles showing he always puts in effort. Caleb Marchbank had 20 disposals, tool 8 marks, had 4 rebound 50's and 4 1%ers. Charlie Curnow looked really impressive in his return going through the midfield and showing a lot of potential in his 13 disposals, 6 mark, 3 inside 50's and only 1 clanger. He had a couple of shots on goal but couldn't slot any. Zac Fisher looked lovely on debut putting in some amazing effots to lay tackles and chase the ball. He has 12 disposals at 91% efficiency, 5 tackles and a brilliant goal. Jacob Weitering went back and forward but could only manage 9 disposals, 2 1%ers and a goal. Tom Williamson continued on from last week looking able on the wing and half back with 13 disposals, 3 rebound 50's and 3 tackles. Samo Petrevski-Seton had 10 disposals, no clangers, 3 clearances and 2 inside 50's in limited performance but an impactful one. Harrison Macreadie had some injury troubles only managing 9 disposals, 5 marks and 3 1%ers. Jarrod Pickett showed more run and should have finished a goal in front of Saad, only managing 9 disposals but kicked 1 goal. Lachie Plowman had 9 disposals, 3 marks, one clanger, 6 1%ers.

From the Magoos:
Midfielder Sam Kerridge racked up 40 disposals for the Northern Blues in a 75-point win against the AFL-AIS Academy squad at Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The 23-year-old also booted a goal. Draftee Cameron Polson was best on ground after he picked up 28 disposals and one goal. Polson can play through the forward line or as an onballer. Former Giant Kristian Jaksch slotted three goals while promising tall Harry McKay finished with two. Rookie Andrew Gallucci kicked four as the Blues ran out comfortable winners, 17.12 (114) to 6.3 (39)

Sorry for a limited discussion this week, busy times at work and i'm late for the gym tonight. It's really looking good on the rebuild thread at the moment, I hope we debut another kid this week, (Polson) and break our record with 13 youth players on the ground.

Interested to know what everyone's thoughts are on where weitering will play when McKay is ready to play in the 1's.

Are we too top heavy down back already?
Do we need another key forward?
Will Casboult make way?

2016 draft could produce some ripper pick ups, SPS, Macreadie, Williamson and Fisher all played in the seniors last week, with Polson also looking pretty close to getting a call up.
Could also add Pickett and Marchbank to the class of 2016, fair effort from SOS.
Has turned the ship around, as well as could be realistically expected.

Losses while the list is most vulnerable is expected. So far the club overall has done exceptionally well in delivering on the 66 game rebuild. Taking shape nicely. It's also good to see the differences in opinion have been mainly directed at team selection as opposed to recent recruitment. That in itself is a good sign of our progress.

Yep by the end of this years draft, our club will have a very impressive group of talent in the right age bracket, the turn around has been staggering TBH.
If SOS has nailed this 2016 draft, which so far the signs are looking very promising, it just goes to show how important all our draft selections are, regardless if they are top 10 picks or 4th round pick 65 you need to be able to find talent in any part of the draft.

If Cunningham and McKay establish themselves in the team then 15/16 becomes two great years of list management and you'd have faith in the ability to carry that through to this years where we will likely have another top 5 pick but as of right now nothing in the second round.

Who was the gun fwd that relegated weiters to the back line? In his tac cup years
Since TAC level is so free flowing (not a lot of defensive work being done), having a CHB who intercepts & rebounds means a lot of 12 point plays. Weitering was too valuable to the team there for them to play him forward
