His Dad played for Carlton or something. It's classic nepotism. Can someone tell me who the **** Sam McClure is? How did this dickhead become relevant enough to land a tv gig?
Lol - Lyon came up with that Gem on the commentary during the game as well. He's just over-looking the fact that Simmo was also an assistant coach at the Hawks and was there for the 2013 Flag as well. Surely he is pretty well versed in Clarkson's amazing game plan too. He's nothing if not predictable.
Nic Nat is overrated, but also a superstar of the comp in that upper echelon of half a dozen players.
Despite being overrated, we can't win without him. Except for that time we did. Right in front of him (Right in front of hiiiiim!).
At least he has the stones to say 'no' we can't win it this year now. I predict a Wallsy-eque premiership favourites column in the coming weeks.

Lyon hates the Eagles with avengance for some reason. Must go back to his playing days or something?
We had a pretty fierce rivalry with Melbourne in the early 90's. In fact it'd be fair to say they were the first side we had that with
Melbourne beat us in our first final in 1988 when Wrenstead missed a running shot at goal in the last minute that would have put us in front. Early days they had our measure winning 6 of the first 8 games between the two sides
We then spanked them in the 1990 first semi-final in an upset - that was the days when there were no finals outside Victoria at all so we had to travel despite finishing higher on the ladder (on percentage) and it was our 5th consecutive away game after H&A games at Carrara and Kardinia Park to end the season then consecutive qualifying finals against Collingwood due to the drawn first final. It was also our first finals win
After that we dominated Melbourne in 90's winning 14-2 including that final and knocking Melbourne out in the 1991 first semi-final (in Melbourne with that finals thing again) and the 1994 prelim final at the WACA. Our average winning margin in those games was close to 8 goals. Lyon finished playing in 1999 so for most of his career was used to getting his arse handed to him by west coast
Melbourne were also one of the teams that would regularly racially sledge Lewis which has been admitted by Lyon and was a factor in the Lewis-Viney biting incident. So there was some bad blood between the teams during Lyons playing career
didn't watch it mate.Any idea who the woman was that questioned Shuey on it? Bridget Lacy perhaps? Really digging for a story by asking players those types of questions.
She came at first gamer Oscar about Liam Ryan too. Give the kid a break, ffs. You just know any little slip up will become a media story line for the week ahead.
Sam McClure giving redheads a bad name since 91.
See for me, the ‘we kept our end of the deal’ thing doesn’t give them the right to then swoop in when what was set up falls to the side. Who knows what has been said between that deal being made and the club talking to NN. Maybe he felt shit about the whole situation (understandably so) and just wanted to get home? It doesn’t take a lot of IQ to make assumptions. Surely the media work this stuff out when he doesn’t show up at door one as expected?I'm friends with a journo but also saw this tweet:

"I'll back in Peter Staples before anyone else. I'm comfortable," Simpson said.
"It's one of those ones where you put it all into context after we sat at the airport for six hours all up, by the time we landed in Perth it was 12am," Simpson said.
"We exited through a loading bay area, so not in the public eye, and the cameras were there, and that's their job.
"They were asked to leave before they started filming and they didn't.
"Peter Staples has been so good for Nic, he's almost full-time with Nic because he's so giving.
"The one time we wanted some privacy we unfortunately couldn't get it, but that's the job."
Not sure that this is the right thread for this, but good to see Simmo backing in the club official from the airport incident. Stapes is a serious backbone of the club that, externally, doesn't get the recognition he deserves. Nice to see him publicly getting backed in.

Son of Troy. You may remember him from such public service videos as “Designated Drivers, the Lifesaving Nerds” and “Phony Tornado Alarms Reduce Readiness”.Can someone tell me who the **** Sam McClure is? How did this dickhead become relevant enough to land a tv gig?
Whilst Staples shouldn't have pushed the camera bloke, the idea that the media has that they have a right to film everything and intrude on every situation and not respect the few times a club/player may want some privacy, sums up why they are held in such low esteem. The sense of self-entitlement from McLure is mind boggling. As others have posted, what is there to gain from shots of NN on crutches and hobbling around. We all knew that already. What is there to gain (assuming they did or would have) from a hurled question (have you done an ACL) when the scans hadn't been done yet, WC already said we feared he had and would update when we knew more.
Yes, the media has its place but sneaking around to get pointless images of nothing just to fill low standard news spots, isn't it. It was just pointless "journalism" at a time of high emotion, after a long and draining flight, not respecting the teams/NN's wish to just be left alone for a bit. So what if there was "an agreement" he would walk out the main door. On what planet should you have to make agreements so that you can't be left in peace when you have done nothing wrong. Whilst the injury is newsworthy, its hardly compellingly necessary to get footage of him leaving the airport. Yes, they may have a right to be there filming but don't expect people to think highly of you for it when the people being filmed have done nothing wrong and obviously want to be left alone.
Ah, former Police Sargent. Thats why he looks familiar.Peter Staples. Former Police Sargent and current integrity manager.
You can't tell me that when news editors send camera crews out to film something as innocuous as a guy leaving an airport on crutches they aren't secretly hoping for the sort of response they got in this instanceI think they went hunting for emotion and got it from an unexpected source and now they're crying foul.
