Knew it’d be something like a dropped catch that costs Pakistan. Hassan Ali is such a spud

They blew two runout chances early in the Wade/Stoinis partnership as well where a direct hit would have been out by metres.

"You just dropped the world cup"
Exactly what I said at the time.
Feel for the poor bastard but thats sport. Winning it with an over to spare probably makes it a tad easier on him. Even if he held that catch, Stoinis still could have chased that down with 10 balls left to chase 20 runs, but it is probably cold comfort.
Looking forward to our test tour in Pakistan next year, they are an exciting team to watch and will be very tough in their home conditions.

I've always said T20 comps should have best of 3 finals ala American sports. I still don't believe Aus are in the best 2 teams, doubt we're in the best 4 tbh.

But who cares, up the ******* Aussies.
Not sure why everyone is so critical of Australia’s t20 side. There aren’t really any weak links other than some guys being a bit out of form and the balance of the batting line up. On paper it’s easily the best side in the comp IMO. The ones out of form have elite t20 resumes. I think Australia has just not given the format much respect in the past in terms of international tournaments

Yeah talent has always been there, its just trying to get them all on the same page that has been the issue. That and injuries.

Warner, Finch were very out of form heading into the tournament, Smith wasn't getting picked in the IPL, Stoinis and Wade are openers and Hazelwood and Cummins are great bowlers but have **** all T20 experience.

It's not that there isn't talent, it's that teams like Pakistan, India, and England also have a lot of talent, and also take T20s seriously.

So Warner and Harris to open for the Ashes series. Thoughts?
Have no real issue with Warner being backed in for now. He's elite in the field and is the most talented option available.

I think Harris is a very average cricketer and not worthy of a Test spot.

I agree that Warner at one end is logical, but man they've struggled to find a consistent partner for him. I'm not sure Harris is the answer

Harris was the highest-rated WA junior batsman since Damien Martyn. Incredibly talented. His average suffered early from being promoted to Shield cricket too young, and he's spent his whole career learning that you can't just slice good bowlers through the off side with hand-eye coordination (see also: Travis Head). From what I understand, Chris Rogers has been all over him since arriving as Vic coach, and it's straightened out his technique. I've not seen the evidence yet, but I'd like to give him a chance. He's averaging 40 in first-class cricket, and with Pucovski out it's not like we have better options in that category.

Hazelwood was key to CSK winning the IPL final only about 8 weeks ago - he was one of the better performed pace bowlers in the tournament so he’s coming in with hot form.

Warner and Finch weren’t in great form but hard to argue that takes aus out of the top 4 teams. Same as Kohli or Williamson - neither are in much better form themselves but you don’t write the sides off because of that

Smith probably the weakest link but it’s Steve Smith. His fielding and leadership already make him better than other teams’ worst players

Zelda fans eagerly looking forward to the Warriors bringing out a Gannon-Dorff bowling attack at some stage this season
WA is no longer officially called the Warriors, right? It's now the Western Australia men's cricket team. Much more catchy.

Even if he wasn't getting concussed from them, Pucovski's issues with the short ball would be an problem at Test level.
Im not convineced he has a problem with a short ball. Of his 10 concussions, I think only 3 are from copping a knock from a short ball. Seems he is extremely susceptible to concussion (he got one from taking a short single and tripping over FFS!) so more a physical thing than a technique thing. We see good players regularly get pinged in the helmet (Riwaz last night for example) but not have any lasting effects, it happens to the best. Just that when Puk gets one, it knocks him the **** out. Either way, it is hard to see him having a long cricket career given his glass jaw.
