Here's a not so fun idea, what does our Test team look like in 5 years assuming any player at that point 35 and over is retired or on the verge of retirement?

Slim batting prospects. Hopefully there are some great 17 year olds about to break through.

Batting
Street
Puc
Mackenzie Harvey
Renshaw
J Sangha
Head
Fraser McGuirk
Bancroft
K Patterson

Keepers
Whiteman
Phillipe
Harper
Inglis

Bowlers
Cummins
W agar
Meredith
Pope
J Richardson
T sangha
Swepson

Very thin on all lines and Cummins as captain on his last legs. Hazelnut might be still going at close to 36 but I doubt it.

Renshaw and Bancroft only listed because they have international experience

Cam Green?
We have to persist with him given how much talent he has .
Its a bit concerning that he keeps getting trapped LBW . Bit of a flaw in his technique?

Forgot about Green and Marnus. I love Green and Marnus too. Wish Marnus wasn’t such a cockburn supporter

We also have to persist with head. Head whilst not setting the world on fire has been solid whilst flat trackers like warner spud it up overseas and against the better teams in Australia

Jason Sangha really needs to step up if he's ever gonna be anywhere near the Test team

Don't rate Steketee?

I don’t really rate steketee. He feels like a wish version of Neser. If I was going to back anyone in from Qld bowling lineup in 5 it would be Wildermuth. Like that guy. Maybe not tests though

Couple of good matches last night. Only watched the Kayo Mini of the Pak-Ind game but the first innings at least looked pretty high quality.

What’s the bet Pak now lose a few easy ones and fail to qualify past the next round

TBH Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh aren't much chop. Our group isn't that hard either. Also TIL the top 3 go through to the next round. I thought the top 2 did. Australia should make it past this stage now.
You’re right sorry someone told me the top 3.

even tho the windiesgot flogged, they’re defending champions. Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh as the bottom 3 are lot better thab Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland.

Misread title as summer croquet thread. I was ecstatic, and assumed HoneyBadger35 would also be a large contributor. These balls arnt going through those gates on their own. Get your mallets out lasses and gents and all things in between.

Shaun Marsh 80 not out , superstar player for WA ...38 yrs of age . Great player .
Will be one of the what if players of his generation. Both Marsh brother are two lads with an enormous amount of talent but don’t think either of them were mentally strong wnough at the bext level

Add Luke Pomersbach to that list

A few more years and Geelong might recruit him

Having discussion with someone about how Sangakkara could have equalled the Don for the most 200’s had Rudi hadn’t rob him on 192. Looked more into his innings list and he was stuck on 199* after he ran out of partners. Sounds worse than being stuck on 99
