The year we host a shield final and it's not "draw means home team victory". Weak.
Last time we played in a shield final the Vic's batted at a snails pace for almost two days knowing all they had to essentially do was bat time, of course this was after preparing a road down in Hobart.

This BP system adds such an interesting element. I don't know that I like it, as the top team can dominate the match but still lose the Shield on points. But at least it reduces the chances of the home side batting first and posting 700 and ruining the game.
I reckon there shouldn't be a final.

Go back to the old days.
The Shield goes to whoever finishes on top.

Bonus Points are a good thing IMO, seeing teams go out of their way to make a road, and then making 800+ wasn't worth the point.

As an aside, it amazes me that there is such a complete disregard for lower level cricket in this country. In this game there are about 8-10 former international cricketers, a few up and coming stars and of course a chance for state based hate to shine through. How much of that is failure on the part of CA/ACB over the past 25 years and how much is just "those damn kids on their phones" IDK.

Maybe I'm just a bitter man now that my posters of Mike Hussey, Damien Martyn and Justin Langer with WARRIORS blazed all over them aren't worth the same as Pokemon cards.

Because it's one ball.

And then tomorrow morning we have ten overs in a bonus point situation. Do you want an actual batsman, or a nightwatchy?
Kelly is no slouch.
Got 41 off of 51 balls last game.

I don't t think we should really go for it in the next 10 overs anyway.

Try and bat all long as we can tomorrow IMO.

This is what Ochre was getting at with the team batting second having an advantage, I think. We are sort of setting a target but not really. It's tough to know how to approach the next 10 overs, whereas if we go on to post 500+ then the Vics only need to focus on their first 100 overs and if successful they can play for the draw.

Also, assuming we get 40ish runs the next 10 overs and lose a wicket would leave us 330-4.

Victoria would need to reach 0/291, 1/301, 2/311 etc... down to all out for 391 in 100 overs to take the lead in bonus points.

Given they were 20/292 a week ago, I think people are over-estimating the ability to just casually go out and make 350+ in a day vs quality bowling.

Also, thank god Finch didn't hang around this time.
Should have been moved on a fair while ago. Guy barely even scores in the BBL.

He’s a good captain I reckon, but he’s being carried as a bat.

Finch would’ve been dropped long ago if not for being captain and having a lot of runs under his belt. There’s gotta be a dozen better options to open the batting in the upcoming World Cup.

Warner
Head
MMarsh
Maxwell (c)
Inglis
Stoinis
David
Cummins
Starc
Zampa
Hazelwood

I feel like this would be our best team atm for T20s. I know these are ODIs but the T20 WC is next so that should be the focus.

I like it but can't see Inglis replacing Wade or Carey TBH.
