Re the Ind v Pak WC game in Adelaide, when the state associations got together to bid for matches everyone was busy trying to get Aus games and the SACA head was the only one to realise the coup of getting that game instead.tbh there isn't really a great time to play there. Its a rubbish stadium (at least it was when I was there circa 2014ish).
Its amazing how 10+ years ago the big cricket matches (NY Test, Boxing Test, Tri-Series finals) were all played at Sydney and Melbourne because they had the two biggest stadiums (same as the four neutral tri series matches usually being palmed to Perth/Adelaide/Bris/Hobart).
Fast forward to 2023. Adelaide Oval and Perth Stadium are far superior venues, larger capacities, more modern. Still can't get a look in for preferred dates (AO in fairness did get Pakistan vs India 2015 WC as well as a semi-final for the World T20).
india v sl t20 game has a siren that goes off when there's a no ball free hit.
And he was bowled this very ballYesterday in the NZ v PAK test

If a test match is played in Perth but no one goes, did it happen? If only there was a major city in Australia that almost never sees rain in January.
If a test match is played in Perth but no one goes, did it happen?
Fair cop. I was filthy about us missing out on tests the last few years after having the Afghanistan number cancelled, but when we get the piss poor crowds that we did even on the weekend days we only have ourselves to blame.
I mean, I didn't go either, but I was meant to be working that whole test - it fell terribly for me, but I got the Vid anyway, so I can maintain my moral high horse.
Yes, we get good BBL crowds, but I fear that the Perth public likes the bastardised Pyjama cricket, not the top shelf stuff.
Give the New Years test to Adelaide, a true cricketing city.

Or they could move it to the time of year where it doesn't get as much rain. SCG should have the opening test in November and Perth the New Year's test (not much rain here in early Jan).
Nah, Perth people would flock to a test against a good opponent, scheduled at a reasonable time. Don't give us a shit, second rate team (Windies) and start it on a bloody Wednesday. The test was over before we even got to the weekend! If a test match is played in Perth but no one goes, did it happen?

That's actually my line of thought. The SCG is a hell of a ground. I love its characteristics, the weather just lets it down again and again.Or they could move it to the time of year where it doesn't get as much rain. The size of Optus makes it look far, far worse too.
I went on Friday and there was a decent enough crowd in, but it gets lost in that colosseum.
If they ever moved the NY test from Sydney (they wont) it would be to Adelaide. Perth seem to get the scraps and CA wonder why crowds are down.
The problem is for when they decide the supposed A grade opponents only get three tests, two of them are a lock for Melbourne and Sydney.Nah, Perth people would flock to a test against a good opponent, scheduled at a reasonable time. Don't give us a s**t, second rate team (Windies) and start it on a bloody Wednesday. The test was over before we even got to the weekend!
The BBL crowds show that there are plenty of people who like cricket. But I can't see any city getting a good crowd in the middle of the week on a workday
