As someone who grew up with the annual tri-series through the eighties and early nineties it’s sad to see the demise of ODIs

It used to be the highlight of the summer with massive crowds and must watch TV. Even the neutral games had appeal

Now it’s an afterthought played in near empty stadiums and no FTA coverage

Rest Smith or Labuschagne if you want to give him a crack. Not two other players who are also looking for opportunity to establish themselves/get experience
Labuschange after his poor showing over the summer didn't even get a bat today .
No way he gets dropped and Smith is the captain

100% stand by it. Inglis definitely has a role in this side but I prefer Short-Head with Inglis in the middle order.

Green I'm still not convinced by in the format. Plays out too many dots.

As an 80s kid, I fully concur. I was musing on it earlier today as well. Absolutely loved watching the day-nighters after school and into the evening on the long summer days. Those series actually meant something.

Alas, nothing lasts forever.

CA have been running a YouTube channel that is streaming these kinds of games

Watched Aus A vs England highlights the other day from the 90s. Pretty strong A side with Martyn, Langer and Ponting.

Agar not selected for the Shield game starting tomorrow. This has been coming for a while but his Australian white ball duties and constant injuries meant he avoided direct competition with Rocchiccioli.

Agar's selection in the 2023 Sydney test remains one of the more baffling decisions in the recent past.

Cricket Gold is great for nostalgia but depressing as hell for the reminder of how big ODIs used to be.

I caught the one last night where Mujtaba hit Steve Waugh for 6 off the last ball to tie the game. Standing room only at Bellerive.

Don't know what's playing now, Australia vs England from way back when but Merv Hughes had a seriously big gut by this time. His run up is an impressive effort for someone carrying that much excess.

Bancroft falls for 42 in the Shield.

Can't really afford to be wasting starts if he wants to stick it up the selectors.
great catch to get rid of him...and he did his job as an opener

but yeah would of been nice to go on with it

bloody Goodwin...another youngster not taking there opportunities

and I hope the scorchers took note...inglis opening last night

why the F&&k we didn't do that is beyond me
That's not a bad call Westy.
He was pretty much coming in at 2 for nothing anyway.
Might as well as used him in the power play.

Winning the toss and bowling in that final was another poor decision IMO.

I think we missed a few tricks on and off the field this year.

Turner's loss was decisive, really.
