Howdy everyone,

Thought i might relay this story to you.

About three weeks ago i noticed i slight dark spot in my field of vision in my right eye. Went to the doc who sent me to a specialist who said nothin scary attis stage but come back in four weeks.

last week (Tuesday) i was up bush through work - Grampians way and woke up and noticed that the spot had spread. By the time i got home at about 6pm i had lost 75% of the vision in my right eye. Went to the eye and ear hosp. and was told i needed an emergency op. That happened the next day.

As of now i still have no sight in that eye but now am having some light coming through. The specialist says that iy will take at least 6 weeks before i will know if the vision comes back and what level. Apparently i had a detached retina and if i had have waited a day or two longer it would have been game over for that eye.

Puts a real perspective on things. Amazing stuff goes through your head.

Go tigers (and all jokes about being a one eyed supporter have well and truely been done).

Keep the faith.

Phew. You sound like you're one lucky dude peejay. Hope your eyesight is 100% soon. You'll need it to see the mighty tigers back to where they belong!!!

Considering under Wallace we may have a competitive side you would definitely want all of that eye sight!,

Sounds like a hell of a shock, all the best with the recovery peejay

Poor bugger.

Did they make u wear an eye patch Pj?

Just for the first couple of days - apparently exposure to oxygen helps the stitches mend.

You know the surgeon asked if i wanted a local or a general. can you imagine having a eye operation - we are talking needles and stitches and syringes whilst you are awake.

I have no qualms about saying i took the soft option and had the general.

Have you considered your legal options with respect to the specialist who told you no to worry? What would have been the ramifications if the detached retina was detected in the first instace?

just thinking about that in the last day or so.

i will wait until the eye gets as good as it will before i canvass that option.

Not a lot of improvement at this stage just an almighty blurr.

However i am aiming to get to the hawthorn game so that is my first aim.

Maybe you could get one of those cool pirate-type eye-patches, but in Tiger colours. :)

Hope it all works out for you.

Best of luck peejay. Two years ago my mum experienced the same thing, where she described it as curtains coming across her vision in one of her eyes. Got some laser surgery of some sort and got over it very fast. As I'm sure you will too :).
