I was surprised to read the news because I also thought he was already dead. Maybe I confused him with Clive James for some reason.

I'm another who thought Clive Robertson was already deceased - I thought he died around 2019.

I had a similar experience last week when Maggie Tabberer died - I thought her former partner Richard Zaccharias had died in 2015 or 2016 - but he is still alive.

I'm saddened to read this. I taught Tomorrow, When the War Began back in the 90s in Year 8 at the college I was at. John came to speak to our students a few times. He was very affable and caught the imagination of our Year 8 boys, not an easy feat. I still have the copy of the novel which he autographed for me.

May his memory be for a blessing.

I absolutely loved those books. He also wrote a guide for young men that I really loved too. I'm sure I'd disagree with heaps of it reading it back now, but it made a lot of sense to teenage me and there's still one thing from it that I think about pretty regularly.
