I was an early high school student when Princess Diana died - we'd been set an assignment of researching & writing about a historical local feature and I had opted to research the local cemetery which is about the same age as the oldest local church both dating back to 1860 (not 1960, that wouldn't be that old )

I've visited Strawberry Fields in Central Park, and 35+ years on people still go there to pay their respects to Lennon, always fresh flowers etc

Diana , knew she was injured ,broken leg allegedly , then news from buck house went quiet . Went to see my nephews play finals footy in the morning and word spread she died.

Shane warne massive shock , was in hospital recovering from stroke , got woken at 2 am for the usual check patient is alive , saw my phone with multi news messages , went to bf death thread for confirmation , didnt sleep much after that

Mj and perry , not shocked , unless there old hollywood , musician types are drugs or suicide with rappers being shot dead and wrestlers dying from prolonged use of steriods

I remember the first I heard of this was on Bruce McAvaney's old Sunday morning "Sportsworld" program, when Kylie Gillies brought us a news update to tell us that the Princess had been involved in a major accident but had walked away
