Black Arm-Band - Rd 6 every year

Armband is a good idea, but if you want something to last I would suggest making the 'best clubman' award at the best and fairest evening the 'Dick Pratt Medal' or something along those lines.

There has been no greater clubman in recent times and naming the best clubman award after Dick Pratt would continually recognise his contribution year in year out.

I think this is a great idea. Pratt was a great club man so the medal that is awarded to the player showing this would be a great idea.:thumbsu:

Ill definately be wearing the black armband for the man who saved our club. If it brings recognition to a great man, and what he did for our club im in for it.

Is the thought of having Richard Pratt's initials printed on the back of our club jumper forever taking things to far???

Like Brisbane have F.F.C, i reckon it would be nice to have his initials on it...

what do you think

I just called SEN and asked them to pass it on and the guy I spoke to was very positive. He said that he would put me on the soap box but I told him I'd prefer it if he just got one of the hosts to announce it, which he was more than happy to do. I think it gives it a bit more cred...plus id probably run out of breath bc of nerves!....I've emailed Dave Hughes so hopefully he will mention it tomorrow on his breakfast show. I also emailed Emma Quayle and I sent a very detailed proposal that included future action to Coutts. I detailed how we can promote it this week - Fev on the footy show, Hughesy, tim/sam lane etc. as well as how we can make an annual charity event out of it. I spoke to someone in the AFL and he said Coutts was the man to contact to get Carlton's involvement so I've got my finger's crossed. Radio, TV and Print coverage is what we really need. Perhaps others could call SEN so that they know there is a lot of support out there.

Just one round will do. Remember, Pratt had his flaws too- lets not idolise him too much.

Rename the best clubman award to the Richard Pratt Award. Best way to permanently commemorate his contribution.

Ill idolise him as much as I like sunshine.

This man single handedly saved my football club that I love so much...

Everybody has flaws, encluding you and me..

I will wear a black armband this year and every other year I attend round 6...

Just on that, will it always be round 6 or the round closest to the 28th of April?

Black electrical tape will do the trick, thats what the guys use to use in our local league..

That's all I intend doing!

Just one round will do. Remember, Pratt had his flaws too- lets not idolise him too much.

I can see how doing it annually might seem over the top, though as the man that saved our club I don't think it is...and everybody has flaws...But if it became an annual event I am excited by the prospect that it can become a charity event and in turn we can be responsible for helping a lot of other people by raising significant amounts of money for the Pratt Foundation or another charity. It will not be so much about idolising him, but it is well known that he was a great philanthropist and a great Carlton person and therefore, in my opinion, is the perfect figure to commemorate with an annual Carlton/Charity event.

Just on that, will it always be round 6 or the round closest to the 28th of April?

I think if it is successful enough that it happens again Carlton/Pratt Foundation will probably be involved so a decision would likely be made by them.

What do you think is a better idea?

Personally, if it could be Rd 6 vs the Hawks every year then i would probably lean that way, but if it was going to be against a different team each year (ie the match is not part of the event), then I would probably lean towards the match the follows April 28th.

Great idea for the great man that saved our great club!!.
I'll be wearing one, whatever its bloody made out of,maybe even black cardboard:)

How about getting this idea mentioned on The Footy Show?

Oh, and just a thought, we could wear a ribbon to Saturday's game?

It would certainly be good if it could be mentioned. Perhaps a few of us could send emails. I'll look into it and see what the best approach is. If we could get The Footy Show and even one Melbourne newspaper to mention it then that would be great coverage (different audiences). Really, what we need is just to get it mentioned once I guess and then other media outlets will pick up on it from there.
Regardless of how many people hear about it, I will proudly wear mine in memory of Pratt, but it would be great to turn up on Saturday and see thousands of Blues supporters similarly banded.

We are approaching 100 in the facebook group:

These groups can be a great way to spread news if everyone invites all their like-minded friends. The Faith No More group that i was part of was attracting over 1000 people a day from within Australia until it reached its target.

I looked into it but it seemed like it had been ages since anyone had updated it so I thought that it probably rarely gets visited. Probably worth posting it anyway i guess.

Really inspirational stuff here guys. I'm amazed over and over again with the posters on this forum, and just how we can all pull together and show our appreciation for Richard Pratt.

I'll most certainly be wearing a Black Armband on Saturday.

Are you sure you're looking at the right one? This one gets updated constantly.
I provided a direct link to the page.

Ah no....sorry i somehow missed that link....I ended up writing on one of the group's that has about 4,500 members. I did follow that link but I have to wait on the admin to accept my friend request....feel free to start a topic in the group that you are referring to. The group I wrote in is:
