What no Roach in your best 22?....the fella has played some good footy in a comp such as the VFL which would have to be a touch stronger than what the WAFL can muster....stick him on a HFF at least!

Roach was an oversight. It goes without saying that he'd be best 22. I'll edit.

No point including the AFL boys either.....anything could happen to them in regards to availabilty.....yes common sense suggests Hansen and Notte will play more WAFL than AFL, but I reckon Pearce and Walters would be more of a chance to play AFL in 2010.....the key is will SD have all 4 available at the same time....if they do than I can see Hansen, Notte and Walters being SD top 3 goal kickers next year.
I think those 4 boys will spend considerable time at the Swans and as such they should be included into calculations. We should more often then not have 3 playing at least you'd suspect.

Naitanui I don't think will play many games at all. Cox needs support, Naitanui needs development and he's good enough to be an AFL ruckman in his own right.

Regardless, it further emphasizes the lack of depth.

The rumour is that Wolfy has gone to West Perth... If has, did we get Menegola from West Perth as part of a compo deal.

OK, perhaps I was a little pessimistic

Simpson is staying
Davis staying
Jetta is staying
Garth is training

Krakouer looks in tip top shape.

Menegola is said to be a good pickup (I know little of him).

Menegola has always been a borderline WAFL player, not permanently in the 1's, IIRC. Not saying he's bad, that's just what I recall about him. Wolfy better not be going, not to the despicable Cardies anyway!:D

Simpson definitely staying Underdog? I had heard he was still going but I hope your mail is right. Pratty has committed to Swans as well, I believe.

Pretty certain Simpson has signed Swannies.

On another uplifting note...

Swan Districts have emerged as a flag fancy for 2010 after adding de-listed North Melbourne defender Matt Riggio to their list of signings from AFL ranks.

...

The 188cm Riggio started his senior football career at Peel, but has opted to join Swans rather than return to the Thunder.

He is the latest AFL player to commit to the Bassendean club following the recent signing of former Richmond midfielder Tom Roach.

Good news on both fronts underdog.:thumbsu:

On another note, if you're a member and have received the voting forms for directors of the footy club this week, then can I urge you to read through the letters and take the time to have a vote. I'm no pushing anyone in directions of how to vote, they all look solid candidates, but just take the time to make sure you make your vote count. :thumbsu::)

Matt Riggio will do his best to destroy the team chemisty with his egotisical attitude. Surely some $$$ was offered?

The Picture looks nothing like Riggio??

Its actually David Trotter in the picture not Matt Riggio!!

Swans have announced their leadership group, which now consists of 7 players. That's 1/3 of the team.

Not a fan of big leadership groups, but hey, whatever.

So Brett Robinson, Tim Geappen, Tallan Ames and Ben Colreavy are added to the group and Josh Roberts is the new captain. Twomey and Spencer are vices, I guess.

Glad Spanner is staying around and Amesy deserves his position, loyal servant that he has been.

Congrats to all these players.:thumbsu:

Very good leadership group. Also very pleasing to see Robinson and Geappen included. I'm always edgy about interstate recruits leaving - particularly when they are vital to the side.

Great to see Ames included as well. If Roberts didn't get the captaincy, I was hoping Ames would.

Colreavy is probably the most surprising but he is experienced and probably one of the most underrated in the side.

Heading out to look at the intra-club at 2 today. Will let you know what goes on and who looks hot (well, that'll be everyone in black and white :D) and who's not.

Watched the ressies slug it out in an intra-club before the Best of the Rest (won't call them league because 15 league regulars were missing) took on the Eagles.

Don't know any of the names of the players but these were the ones that impressed, 21 white (FF), 7 white, 42 white was in everything and is a clone of an old 42, Callaghan, but maybe a touch slower. 60 black was good, as was Thomas (colts from last year) and Deromitt Wilson, looks like he had grown, both in height and his hair, and was in very good touch.

Spoke to the footy manager and the Pilbara focus appears to be starting to reap some dividends. There were about 20-30 indigenous boys playing in this match, a couple looked and moved like Lewis Jetta (we can only hope, can't we?) and they have electric pace and good skills.

In the match against the Eagles, James Embley showed me why I admire him so much, hard at it and won't take a backwards step. Hopefully he blossoms this year. Saw Michael Embley training with Robinson on the sidelines and he looks like he has finally put on some weight and is feeling fit, he said. He's a big unit now. :thumbsu: Pullman looked good, in patches. Lammie was quite good too, I thought.

In my excitement I forgot to add that I received my annual pr0n package the other day. The Swans 75th Anniversary Yearbook.

Well put together and a great read.:)

How old is James Embley? Every now and then I see a post like yours, but there's no solid info on him. I think I've seen him play maybe once in a reserves or colts game a while back, I only recognised him then because he sometimes used to go to the Eagles games and sits near where I am. Looked okay that day.
Is he AFL draft age? Will he/has he nominated?

James Embley is turning 21 this season. Was eligable for the 2007 AFL draft, probably would have got drafted if it wasn't for the fact WA had such a great side.

James Embley stopped growing early, was an absolute monster back in U15's.
