I seem like the only one who's been underwhelmed by Martin's year. He's improved in some areas, sure, but his disposal has been sloppy and lazy far too often for someone getting the wraps he is... Not to mention getting paid the money he is. But that's just me, it seems!

Its a hard one Damo80 , when you know you've got talent. How do you price/value it. Where's Dusty's talent ceiling? This is his best season in terms of more consistent and well rounded performaces imo. But he's only 23 as of end june if memory serves. I think he'll continue to get better , it's all before him, and that's exciting...

i think his main issue is his defensive efforts. he doesn't run hard enough when he hasn't got the ball. One chase on sunday where he jogged as a port player sprinted past with the ball was nothing short of atrocious.

Personally think its because his best was when we were awful. The last 10 weeks he has been solid without being dominate and if he hadn't kicked a couple of clutch goals the media wouldn't be blowing their load as much covering his below par performances (which are still good just not great)

I think he was cooked, looking at the way he was playing on Sunday. Just didn't seem to get out of a jog for most of the match. I think his fitness still needs to be improved & also his defensive side of his game. Yet he was still one of our better players this season.

The whole list have to lift it's defensive efforts & our fitness levels to compete with the better teams, otherwise we will continue to tread water or even start to go backwards. We still lack some genuine pace outside of Deledio, which I see as a major deficiency with our list & stated before the last draft that we need to inject pace into the side.

I largely agree with your responses, guys, and I have to admit that I'm more a "watcher" of the game than an "analyser", but the overall lazy aspect stands out in my mind... simple 20m passes that inexplicably dribble along the ground is the mental picture that stands out in my mind of his 2014. Perhaps that's both unfair and overstating the issue, but it's still something that works against him expecting $600k or more when his next contact is due, IMHO!

He's not alone with his little 20m kicks, 2 other of our better players this year in Ellis & Cotchin try these dinky little kicks which quite often lead to turnovers. They can be useful kicks in certain circumstances, yet they just over did this so much this year. For me it was a bad habit they got into & just didn't stop doing it, which is just being mentally lazy.

I agree its lazy. I think on the weekend you saw the difference a guy like Burgess has made at Port Adelaide. He has a sentiment of push players to what they think is their limit then pushing them past that point. They had 1 guy on their list who could do a sub 10 minute 3km when he started now I think i heard somewhere they have 9.

Not reported as yet. I know he doesn't like Lade (not many do apparently) and has had a few fights with dimma

Does anyone like Lade? Just wondering if this Lade situation is working. Is it a lack of respect for good reason or something else?

Curious to know what the fights with Dimma where about! At least it means someone is looking for change and hopefully improvement!

I'm just struggling to get my head around why someone would sign a contract extension if they didnt like one of the line coaches they work with and have had run ins with the head coach?
I find it harder to comprehend that Ty doesn't like something and hasn't belted them. :D

On the draft and trading board they're saying Vickery for Hunt and Smedts. If that happens I will be furious.
So what do we get? Smedts is a talent but if Geelong can't get it out of him well...

PS I thought I had posted this for a second :drunk:

What would Vickery fetch a trade?
I'd think first round pick, but I'm not sure is that is what he is worth or what I want him to be worth
