BlazingDon#9
Debutant
BlazingDon#9's Mock Draft
I will only do the first round of the draft, as my knowledge past it is not sufficient to put together.
#1 Melbourne Demons. [Jack Watts]: It is pretty much clear who the number one draft selection is going to be this year, Jack Watts. He is arguably the best player in the draft and suits Melbourne's needs, a key position forward to replace Neitz, with Robertson also aging they will look to start building their forward line up and again and Watts would fit Melbourne perfectly.
#2 West Coast Eagles. [Nicholas Naitanui]: The Eagles will shuffle between Naitanui and Rich for this selection but the biggest indication of them wanting to pick Naitanui is when they desperately tried to dump Seaby in trade week. A perfect replacement Cox once he is done and dusted. Naitanui will develop nicely for the time being, second string to Cox would be a good learning curve, not to much pressure while able to show glimpses.
#3 Fremantle Dockers. [Stephen Hill]: Here it is the top five pick surprise like usual in every draft, Fremantle will choose a player with massive upside here, queries have been put over Rich's attitude, injury problems and speed. Hill will do great in the open spaces in Subiaco with his speed and agility he really could run the opposition down into the ground. Will complement Palmer and become an A grade outside midfielder that drifts forward.
#4 Port Adelaide Power. [Tyrone Vickery]: Port will be tempted by Rich, but their glaring need for a ruckman will mean they will have to take Vickery who himself is a fine player who could become amongst the AFL's best ruckman Brogan and Lade are both nearly done and Vickery will be an excellent replacement for the ruck duties.
#5 Essendon Bombers. [Daniel Rich]: Essendon will be licking their lips when they see Rich available with Hurley and Yarran also a possibility here but you would think Rich would be far to tempting add him into Essendon's young brigade of onballers suddenly Stanton, Watson, Lonergan, Prismall, Winderlich, Houli and Rich looks extremley good, fast and dangerous will top off Essendon's midfield.
#6 Carlton Blues. [Shaun McKernan]: Carlton will either take Hurley or McKernan with this pick but Jamison, Bower, Thornton and Waite will be suffice for now. McKernan a key position forward/ruckman can provide another option up forward, with only Fevola there it seems one dimensional, with McKernan it suddenly turns much more dangerous and loosens up Fevola a little more.
#7 Brisbane Lions. [Tom Swift]: Black and Power will not be around forever and Brisbane can bolster their young midfielders with Tom Swift. He has major injury issues over him but many people just say it is a case of being unlucky and Brisbane can find themselves a steal here ala Joel Selwood. With Voss also stating Swift being the best 16 year old player he has ever seen will also add to this selection.
#8 Richmond Tigers. [Hamish Hartlett]: They will go best available and Hartlett will really top of their midfield Deledio, Foley, Cotchin, Hartlett looks very dangerous fast and skilled. They will also consider a KPF here but Hartlett will be to good to pass up on.
#9 Kangaroo Roos. [Jackson Tengrove]: They need backmen with Hansen looking more and more like a utility type player Gibson and Firrito in my eyes is not good enough. Tengrove could be a star defender that can do his defensive duties and also provide an attacking option, injury problems have plagued his junior career but Kangaroos will take a gamble which could pay of massivley.
#10 Adelaide Crows. [Lewis Johnston]: Nick Gill as a KPF just does not seem right they will be quick to pounce on Johnston, with Burton also injuring his knee he could not be the same player Johnston an attacking, high leaping and agile forward is just what the Crows need.
#11 Collingwood Magpies. [Steele Sidebottom]: Collingwood will be rapt Sidebottom and Ziebell have slipt but they will go with the more tradition inside midfielder with Sidebottom over the roaming Ziebell. A gaping hole in the midfield has been left at the Pies and they will look to fix this problem ammidetly and Sidebottom who performed amazing in the TAC grand final will be a good way to start.
#12 Sydney Swans. [Micheal Hurley]: Leo Barry is not upto it anymore they will take a risk on the old fasioned key back Micheal Hurley who can play on the monster forwards and with a penetrating kick on the SCG Sydney could find themselves near the 50m arch with his kicks coming off the backline a gamble but Swans must take it.
#13 St.Kilda Saints. [Chris Yarran]: Closing in on premiership glory they will go best available here and go with Yarran hoping he can have a Rioli type of season and really provide another attacking option at their already potent forward line. Questions over Yarran's attitude and work rate just as Rioli and Franklin but look what Hawthorn transformed these two players into, St.Kilda will be hoping to do the same with Yarran.
#14 Western Bulldogs. [Ayce Cordy]: F/S Pick
#15 Geelong Cats. [Jack Ziebell]: Going best available and will probably play him up forward in a O'Keefe type role and try fix some of Geelong forward woes and if Hawkins makes the grade with Ziebell in their to it can suddenly turn questionable into a powerhouse forward line, Ziebell can also rotate through the midfield with Chapman, Ablett, Bartel ect who can also play forward.
#16 Hawthorn Hawks. [Phil Davis]: With Trent Croad's injury in the grand final and possibly missing some of next year Hawthorn must take a key defender, enter Phil Davis athletic key defender, very undderated and can become a very serviceable player for Hawthorn
Hope you guys enjoyed it, please feel free to tear it up
