Tef is bad for Tef, I don't think it is this place that made him the way he is.

It is fine to disagree with someone and articulate where you have a difference of opinion, but Tef's go to card was to just attack the poster instead. For someone who was so frequently well off the mark with his opinions, it is remarkable how he had reinvented reality in his mind to believe he was always right and only his opinion mattered.

Anyway, i know Tef is still reading this forum, you were a pita in your many forms, but I still miss him. While he was quite often well off the mark, he did have some good insight now and then. It was his inability to have an adult conversation that ultimately made it a painful experience.

Anyway, there is nothing wrong with missing him, even if he was a pain in the arse.
Every now and then i think his perspective on something would have been good but its pretty rare.

Frankly the place is shitloads better without him.

Maybe that is content for a different thread...

Looking at the contract list in this forum it says the following are out of contract next year:
Anderson, Atu, Cunners, Goldy, Hall, Hayden, McGuinness, Scott, Simpkin, Taylor, Thomas, Turner, Xerri, Walker J, Walker P, Young and Zurhaar.

There are some who come to mind who would be under some pressure; like Hayden, McGuinness, Atu, Walker P because they aren't currently in the best 25 or so, they would need to push harder to go further up the list. If you didn't get much game time this year then you would want to stand out next year.

Anyone in the middle is under pressure due to the quality of mids we have recruited, that was my reasoning for putting Dumont on the list last year and the news gets worse for aspiring mids with our likely inclusion of JHF. It is going to put pressure on Anderson, Scott and Taylor because they aren't Cunners, Simpkin, LDU, Phillips, Thomas, JHF calibre. There is plenty of room on our list for depth midfielders but the question is going to be are they going to be happy with getting pushed further back, some are bound to get an offer from someone else with inferior mid talent. Ie, how Xerri was lured by the Saints, not everyone wants to battle it out for a spot or be happy to slide down the order.

For Cunners, a lot is going to depend how his body holds up physically and how he feels mentally, some players decide to pack it in with runs on the board, others want to keep going. He wouldn't be under pressure, but he might be someone who might just be ready to go fishing instead and I'd love to buy him a beer when he has had enough of this caper. I think having the quality around him that he has now might rejuvenate him a bit, make him want to go on, he is looked up as a mentor. I think he just needs to keep his body in good nick, massive difference between doing rehab and training at peak health.

Someone like Young has to address the kicking issues he had this year, there is a spot in the side for him if he can stop turning the ball over. If he can't then he is going to fall into the danger zone of being in the bottom quartile and if you are in that group it is going to be hit or miss when you come out of contract if you will be offered another.

Xerri might ask to be traded again next year.

He is contracted to 2023, so no risk next year.

Bonar contracted to 2023. Not sure who Ronnie is.

We do not have any young KPDs so that kind of makes it hard to move Josh Walker on.

Yeah, not as many obvious candidates, but I don't think a lot of the candidates were obvious. I think most players have the capacity to improve like Hall and Ziebell did this year. A lot of their improvement came from playing smarter, playing to their strengths. I think everyone we let go the last couple of years had gears they never really hit, partly due to poor coaching and poor development but I think generally there was the lack of class around them to draw the best out of them. It is much easier to look good as an average player in a great team than it is in an average team and a lot harder in a poor team.

Overall, we had too many players with too great a variance between their good and bad footy and there was a lack of consistency, we have brought in a lot of kids with high ceilings but if they can't get the standard high enough either then we wont have issues finding new people to move on.

The challenge is for the club from a development point of view is to generate more consistent players with fewer exploitable flaws in their game.
If he has a full pre season and injury free year Jed will be one of our best mids next year.

Hope not and I mean that in the nicest possible way, but we'll be going pretty good if he's the 6th best mid and Cunnington,Powell, Phillips,LDU, Simkin and Thomas are flying
Good footballler is Jed so not saying anything bad about him and hope he is fit and firing next year too

There are still plenty of snipers who play the man instead of the ball, but it is what it is. I don't make the rules and don't try to enforce them and have a lot of sympathy/respect for people who stick their hand up to do it.

I think it is the warts and all that make the place as memorable as it has been over the years.

Absolutely. 5th season on the list in 2022. Had a bad run with injuries, shown bits and pieces but hasn't put it all together to show definitively that he's got something to persist with. Now or never for Ronnie.

Will Walker and EVW showed plenty of promise too, maybe moreso. If you can't get on and stay on the park the potential doesn't mean anything. I can't see him or anyone getting on a Garner-like potential wicket again, not any time soon.

I hope he can have a strong pre-season and give it a massive crack next year.

He did start this thread.

And it resorted to the usual with people discussing his Twitter activity as soon as it was bumped. He’s seriously not worth it and it only draws people to him on Twitter, which is what he wants.

Each to their own I suppose.

Why do people still humour Pauline Hanson?
I get that aspect, but I personally feel its not worth feeding those people any kind of attention.

One is an ex-BF troll that craves any kind of attention, especially from this board, and the other is a racist piece of garbage that doesn't care for the attention of the North BF board.

If people want to feed him the attention he so actively desires, then go nuts. I just personally don't see the point of doing him any favours.

I only checked his response to Ats delisting cos i was one of the few people who agreed with him about Ats' value. But unfortunately he didn't really make a cogent case for keeping him.

If North had to delist one more player. No choice. Got to delist one more. It probably would be Kyron Hayden. If not, then he's at least in the conversation.

Surprised he got another year. I feel he has too many areas of weakness to make it – from disposal to decision making to actual defensive nous for someone who will be either a defender or a tagger – but as with any player I don't rate I really hope to be proven wrong.

As for next year, Young will be up against it, if he wasn't contracted you'd think he would be gone already.
P Walker obviously has to show something, and J Walker – thanks for your service, been an admirable player for us, journeyman in the best possible sense – but if he's on the list in 2023 then something has gone wrong. Atu would want to make a consistent impact, but then he may be contracted. The rest are dependent on injury you would think, can't see any of JZ, Cunners, Hall or Goldy pulling the pin just yet.

P Walker will be fine. Was starting to excel as a wingman in the later vfl games.

Young needs to be settled in a spot, but he’s definitely outside the best 22 at this stage. I still think he has something to offer as a defender. Not a winger at all.

Atu is another that just needs time in a settled position. Showed a lot this year.

J Walker will likely be on the outer by the end of next year. Been a valuable player, but he has his limitations.

Hayden is rated because of his hardness and his athletic traits. I would like him as an inside mid tbh, but maybe that’s just me.

I am not sure, I'd have given Polec his marching orders if there was any truth to the Shaw rumours. But yeah, other than Polec I don't really see like any dead wood on the list. It is both a positive going forward and sad because someone who could make it is likely going to get cut next year due to the need to make room for new recruits.

Bailey Scott and Curtis Taylor both need to increase their ability to influence games too. Bailey is already on the periphery and Ford is threatening Curtis's spot big time.
