And the worst thing is he made us think he can play after returning from jaw surgery. Number 3 pick for a reason, but WTF is he doing?

Needs to go back to Casey. Not to "find form" but so he knows that he is not untouchable.

Doesn't need to go back, yes it wasn't his best game but he still had 1 gaol 16 kicks 5 handballs & 5 tackles.

He is down on the form we want but lets not forget that form has only been shown 5 or 6 times.

Really inspires confidence :p

I thought he was alright today. A few touches (not all quality but you could say that about everyone), some good tackles, a vital goal (well it was at the time anyway!!!), talk of dropping him is ridiculous. There's a heap I'd send back to Casey before him.

Thought he was ok. I think a few too many got caught up thinking he was a superstar. He's a handy player who rotates through midfield and half forward, and who certainly plays better when the game opens up and we're winning. I see no reason to drop him.

Must admit this is me. I'm slowly letting go of the idea though, but he was far far from our worst today and did alright I thought.

EDIT: The problem is that he has the skills, smarts, toughness and flair to be a superstar.

Improved as the game went on, and would certainly not be in consideration for a demotion to Casey.

Having said that, he hasn't been as good as we'd hoped in recent weeks, and as such, he defintely needs to lift.

Improved as the game went on.

I have been seeing this every week with him, quiet early & starts to get into the game late first or early second quater.

I wish he would start with a bang, that might help with our poor starts recently. Straight on the ball from the first bounce & get him to just chase the ball for the first 15 minutes.

Also watching the replay the commentators coulnd not have got him & Moloney confused any more than they did. According to the commentary he didn't touch the ball but Moloney had about 45 posessions.

This should have been Col's year, but he gets KO'ed by Kennedy and suddenly he's back to square one.

He's a lot better than he's shown, but dropping him won't prove anything, just need to wait for something to click.

I don't think playing him as a ruckman at centre bounces helps his game very much.
That I remember his best games have been playing accross the half forward line. That might be where he should be.
Which brings up the problem of a second ruckman!
We are never going to be a power pinch hitting with Sylvia and Miller.

I qualify this by saying I havnt seen any of the Carlton game yet, but he isnt being played as a pure onballer or centreman like he was in the juniors.

We are throwing him forward and having him run across half forward at times as well. Mind you - doesnt stop Chapman dominating.

no his best games are when he plays in the midfield... remember 37 disposals and 4 goals vs the hawks???
bailey needs to start him in the centre and keep him there

I'm with you Ageing Demon, we need a second ruckman in the team badly. Probably not Gentle Johnson so get in Stefan Martin. He's hardly played any football and has heaps of upside. Why isn't he getting picked?

His missed weeks after the Kennedy incident actually had no impact. He came back and was fantastic for his first few weeks. His last month and a half I've found very disappointing. There's been a couple of good games and the rest have been very poor. The thing I noticed today was a lack of poise. Compared to Gysberts, Sylvia was the one who looked like a second gamer. He won some very nice clearances in the centre only to blind blaze when he could have easily run the ball out of the middle. I will say that Col appeared to work pretty hard today though, he lead very hard quite often to provide options and was largely ignored.

Stef is soft and offers little around the ground when playing ruck, as his performance against Norf illustrated.

I think he'll be delisted at year's end.

Difference with Chapman is he gets ample time on the ball + when he is up forward he gets pretty awesome delivery.

Sylvia is left to rot in the forward line too often. He is too valuable to be playing there 80% of time with the token run on the ball.

As others said, he should be starting on the ball, getting plenty of time in the guts and doing the grunt work.
