I could not believe the Calls they missed on us espically Holding the Ball the F**king Missed espically in the last QTR the Umps Stole the Momentum from us in last QTR.

In Fact I was going off my Head in the Last QTR at the Umps.

Anyone else Agrees?
 
no, they were bad for both teams. i'm just happy we got the beams match winning one in the end. would be a bit unhappy if that situation was reversed.

Great game boys. But r u ****ing serious? Was bad for both teams. I am not even gonna try and give examples of when we got r*ped. Take the deserved win.

The main problem with umpires is that the game itself is so difficult to umpire.

Such a high proportion of contests there are situations that could be called either way.

Look at a game like tennis for example - now with Hawkeye they can go five hours without a single controversy. Footy is just a game where so much is negotiable.

Listen to the fans - we call for 100 frees a game, the opposition does the same - today the end result ended up 14-12 our way, so about 174 frees that were asked for weren't paid.

The players know that now and routinely infringe eg the fullback holding the FF - he knows only one, on average, will be paid all day and that he'll probably get one mistakenly paid his way to balance things anyway. If a FB didn't hold, he'd be at a hideous disadvantage in the contests.

The trouble is we're all so invested in the fortunes of our own team. When I watch eg Freo and Bombers at the moment, it's much rarer to notice all the 'bad decisions' that you see against your own team.

Having said all that, I can't stand how much Dawes especially is held and Jolly in the ruck seems to get absolutely nothing from the umps.
 
I thought they were beyond poor. Can some people give me examples of the umps making decision favouring Collingwood. Not saying they weren't there, just wondering when/what as it's hard to see from level 4. However, there the Blair holding the ball and the free against O'brien's spoil were HORRENDOUS.

lucky they missed the push in back on number 16 west coast by Clokey glad he gaoled,umpires must be blind or magpie gods with..ha ha
 
Absolutely agree, HTB has gone out the window and this push in the marking contest interpretation is some of the worst bullshit I have ever seen. And Hams got a free against Maxwell for getting hit by his own player?

In the 2nd and 4th qtrs especially they were woeful.

One in the second or third quter when Goldsack ran someone down, I thought that was as big of a push in the back as you can get. Apart from that the umps in the 4rth killed us big time and took the momentum away from us. Lucky we got away with the win.

luckly we got 3 gaols from free kicks they got nil free kicks which was just in my black and white eyes,all that fubar by wce that darling was chopped four or five times across his arms and no frees is rubbish,just watched reply every time his arms were chopped there was a west coast player holding one of ours or a west coast player illegally shepparding for darling ,so the umpires probably thought that evens it out play on,and the wce whinging about shueys chop to neck last quater no free kick,it should of been free to pies,shuey did not have football and got his neck tangled with our eyes for footy defender,and no way Travis pushed number 16 west coast in back and Trav gaoled,number 16 west coast should be booked for stagging or acting there 2 umpires less than 30 yards away,if u look closely Trav is at least 5 yards from contest and number 16 runs past the ball,the ball breaks back right angles and Trav runs into gaol.number 16 should of stayed on Trav instead of stagging that remarkable push in the back acting,i hope they show this disgrace on highlights.the umpires are stupid.........

Incorrect disposal does not exist anymore. It is being applied across all games now and it stinks. If you have prior opportunity and you get tackled and the ball spills free..it's a free kick. The game is not being umpired that way anymore. It's being calls play on to keep the game moving.

There was some ordinary decisions both ways. I can't recall those weighted either way.
 
I think the ump was not great both sides but it didnt favor any team. I think the reason a lot of people are complaining about it is because west coast free kicks have been the story all year, but seriously how many of these "high" tackles did the pies give away today???

Umpiring didnt favor anyone.

i get annoyed with umpires.Dont just look at the count,look at where they are paid and you'll see what i mean.We get most of our frees in the back line.Hardly ever the forward line.Im not saying we are the only team they do this to,but i get sick of it.
 
I thought they stank, but I don't put that down to WCE getting a particularly good run... we have to put up with that shit most weeks, it's documented fact that we've been amongst the least rewarded teams in terms of free kicks for the past five years or so. Probably the least.

I'd love to know what those frees against Darren Jolly were for. On one occasion he just got flat out pushed in the back in the ruck contest and somehow gave away a free. On another he all but gave up contesting and put a hand in the air to draw the umps' attention, and had a free paid against him. I'd have to watch a replay to know WTF was going on.
 
I just hate the umps genetically.

Like red headed blokes.....just inherently, genetically disposed to disliking them.
Obviously some throw back to tribal times.
The pre-historic "ump" village must have been a weird place to live what with the laws changing every 15 minutes, even as you were breaking them.

Anyway, lay waste to them every week for all I care.
A necessary evil but I don't have to like em'. No AFL gag on me.

Honestly.... Had my serious reservations over your observations but this takes the cake.

Try watching the replay objectively champ, there were many free kicks missed for both teams. Pies actually won the free kick count in the end - did you know that???? Probably not I suspect.

Awesome game guys, pies are a great team, loved the contest. Just had enough of the umpiring hysetria - drop it already, the game deserves better than that.
 
I counted 3 clear throws, 1 in particular by Cox in the 3rd Quarter, right infront of the umpires.
 
Umps were pretty bad, not sure which way it favoured most but might be my bias but I thought Collingwood had it worse.

I'll let go the throws, theres been a few 50/50 potential throws from us, that the umps have let go... The Daisy thomas one against Gold Coast for example.

But there were a couple HTB free kicks against West Coast that shouldn't have been there, but hey, they had one as well early in the game.

The most annoying thing was, there were about 3-4 definite HTB calls that would be a free towards us, but were never paid. They weren't even 50/50 decision, it was DEFINITELY a HTB. The umps are ****ing lucky that most of them go to our possession anyway cuz we're just that ****ing classy but one day, it's going to bite them back in the ass.

Please umps, keep it umpired like finals but pay the ****ing obvious ones.
 
Jesus ****ing christ. That call when hams got a free for a high just outside 50 which lead to a goal was un****ingbeloevable!!!!! He got hip and shouldered by his own team mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I sort of gave up in the game of afl itself at that point

It is not aimed at you or west coast as a team. Get over yourselves. The umpiring was shit and that is what this thread is discussing.
