I'm hearing a deal was done in principle after last years trade deadline with adelaide and hawthorn which sees Gibbs go to adelaide, sicily come to us and an adelaide player go to hawthorn. Not sure on what picks change hands just yet. Will try and find out more in a couple of days.

HAW- Out 2018 1st rounder & Sicily, In Lever
CAR- Out Gibbs, In Hawks 2018 1st rounder & Sicily.

That is worse for us than what Adelaide reportedly offered last year.

A top 5 pick amd Sicily may be as good as it gets.
I'm seeing it as Adelaides 1st and instead of onr of their players they have dealt to get Sicily over to us instead.

Wouldn't be against Hawthorns first and Sicily for Gibbs, particularly if we can use the first to get Kelly.

If the deal Essentially ends up:

Out - Gibbs, 2017 First Rounder
In - Kelly, Sicily

2018 is meant to be a bumber draft

Hawthorn are rubbish and will only get worse with Gibson, Hodge, Burgoyne etc retiring.

Getting our hands on their 2018 first would be huge

On the crows board I see people saying they'd prefer Rocky over Gibbs as a player. I guess Adelaide like stat accumulating plodders. Rocky's 40 touches are the equivalent of 18 Gibbs disposals.

Even so, I want to keep Gibbs, trade for Kelly and have a midfield party.
I guess they are looking at it like this
Gibbs vs Rockliff, 2017 first rounder and 2018 first rounder. The Rockliff route looks much more appealing for them

Would welcome Sicily with open arms. Good versatile forwards with skill and aggression don't grow on trees.
Except he is not one.

Hawks are even using him in defence and they cannot score. Not convinced.

Adelaide can take Siciliy and give us a pick instead. Willing to swap their 2018 first for our 2018 3rd. Keep Hawks 2018 first and we are in good shape.

Out: Gibbs, 2018 3rd
In: Adelaide 2018 1st and Hawks 2018 1st

Good on them... the kid is a plodder and a disease.

Gibbs can stay and help our young mids develop.

I think they were talking purely about on field ability. In terms of acquiring one, rockliff would cost less for sure

Hawks would be flaming mad to give up a future 1st two years in a row. Can't see it happening.

Cats did. They also get Lever, better than the defenders they currently have.

Hawthorn could finish last next year. If Hodge, Gibson and perhaps burgoyne retires. I'd take that in a heartbeat but I suspect Adelaide would want more than Gibbs for lever

Ahh ok. Still, I don't get why we only look at 24 and under players if that's not all we're playing.
Projections for the future.

Also our over 24's only really include Gibbs, Murph, Cas, Kreuzer, Wright, Simpson, Curnow and Jones. Most of the team is 24 and under or a role player - e.g Thomas.
