You're free to put as much trust into a rumour as you want, but certain posters have runs on the board and have inside info. It's as close as you can get to being true before anything actually happens (hence, rumour until confirmed). Tomlinson is the perfect example of something that is 99.9% going to happen, but then falls through for whatever reason. There's always a chance that something could happen, but for now, it's as good as done.

You're free to put as much trust into a rumour as you want, but certain posters have runs on the board and have inside info. It's as close as you can get to being true before anything actually happens (hence, rumour until confirmed). Tomlinson is the perfect example of something that is 99.9% going to happen, but then falls through for whatever reason. To be fair though, has Barass ever revealed his source? You would think it would be very unwise to do that.

If we don't get Marchbank, then is Itchy going to have more credibility than Barass???

That's great news barass70 really appreciate the update it's significant that we are selected by a quality young player being chased by a few clubs. Hopefully this sets a precedent others follow.

Hawthorn only had one defender over 195cm in their grand final side last year, I'm not sure too many of the top 4 sides have 2 defenders over 195cm, it's been unusual that teams have two godo tall forwards over 195cm in a team, whether that's going to change or not. Hawthorn did however have 4 players over 190cm and that doesn't include Gibson who plays tall.

AFL players have generally become taller because of zone defences. The more players you have, say over 188cm in a zone, the less important it is as to who is on who as any of them can impact defensively in the air. This is why good backlines tend to be loaded with players 188cm-195cm and why tall midfielders are preferred as they are far more valuable in a zone defence.

Weitering as our number one defender on the main big forward. Marchbank on the next and plowman and white there as well is not an unusual setup in regards to height for a side though Rowe will likely feature as well.

Watching Tomlinson play against Sydney last week as a 193cm play and sit at the back of the zone and intercept the pressure kicks was something I'd love to see from us. He was excellent last week, will pay a good price to get him I would imagine.

Agree. It may change over time but the 195cms may be slower and that can be caught out. You saw in 2016 we moved from 2 bigs to 1 and some 6 foot 4s.

It's about defensive mix and types that can provide flexibility. Tomlinson seems to be able to do it all to me. Haven't seen marchbank.

Some have a poor record and nothing is taken seriously. Some have a good record and many are prepared to believe them, while acknowledging plenty can change.

Listed height isn't everything. It's an indication but there are other factors that are just as, if not more, important. I'd put wingspan and shoulder height above overall height. Look at Schache, he's 200cm but he has a giant bonce, putting him shoulder to shoulder with some shorter blokes. Body weight and frame size help quite a bit for defenders too.

When SOS was talking about Marchbank in his draft year he said he could play defence, forward, and even as a midfielder (we've heard that before ) so he might have other plans for him.

All good, I just think you are mistaking people discussing the possible scenarios for team lineups, should this eventuate, as people taking it as gospel. Pretty sure everyone knows that things can change, but Barass' info helps put some of the other rumours (*FC making a move on him) to rest a bit.
