Bear with me, it's Fri and I'm smashed...and it may be the last time ever as a recent study has shown a serious link between alcohol/ethanol consumption and cancer

So....just on this Kelly-to-Carlton rumour, which has been going on for a while...

We have a North Melbourne coach who is under the pump and it's been reported in the press (think it was The Age) that his gonads may depend on "whether he can attract a big name star like Martin or Kellly".

It's also been reported that Essendon have entered the fray, I assume in an absolute desparate attempt to remain relevant.

Then, visiting the GWS board, going through a few pages of their trade thread, their supporters seem to think that it will be a shootout between Saints and North who are supposedly prepared to throw ridiculous money around.

I dunno, the whole thing sounds "wrong". It just has that same feel I have when I'm all excited about bidding for some item on eBay....only to see hundreds of shill bids spaced exactly 30 seconds apart drive up the price to a ridiculous number.

So, with aboslutely no proof whatsoever, I'm calling bullshit on the Kelly rumour.

Now, bring on the bar fight !!

Sadly, Essendon are more relevant than we are at the moment. They've had the highest attendance of all teams this year and most likely playing finals, whilst having some exciting youngsters in the mix.

Just on Kelly, the way I'm reading it is North are no chance at all at landing him.

Yeah, I hope you're right. It also brings to mind the Boyd-to-Carlton rumour. I know it's a different team we're discussing but big money can do funny things sometimes.

I don't want Kelly to come to us if the money their talking about is over 1 mil. Per season. It will just cause too much dissention amongst the other players ala Boyd at Bulldogs. I'd rather try our luck at the draft.

It's sounds like the jungle drums are saying Hooper to Geelong - I think they will clear out Menzel to free up space for Hooper and maybe Devon Smith.

Sounds like North are conceding they aren't going to get Kelly hence the Godfather offer to Martin.

So by my reckoning its either Kelly stays for a year or two (most likely) or its us or the Saints.

They surely can't land Hopper and Ablett in the same season, without a first round pick. They just can't; it would fly in the face of their trading for the last ten years, where they have gone in to get their man, and done the deal in a way to serve both sides.

If you shaft another club, it'll come back to bite you later, and I can't see how they get it done without shafting GWS and/or GC, or really selling the farm (trading Harry Taylor/Hawkins) which defeats the purpose.
