Marchbank, Tomlinson and Collingwood's first rounder for #2 and #20.

KPPs set and still get a Gallucci, Scharenberg, Berry, Powell-Pepper type.

If it's Collingwood's first i'm on board, if its Geelongs as other have suggested i'm against it.

I'd rather do #20 for a straight swap for Tomlinson and then shift #2 of for Collingwood and GWS' first. Leave Marchbank out of it and go for two gun midfielders.
Gives us a high calibre youth brigade of;
Weitering, Curnow, McKay, Tomlinson, Cripps, Plowman and two more first rounders.

Then hit the latter part of the draft for the best performing 20-22year old KPD running around in the state leagues.

I don't think they'll deal Marchbank at all, and it might be something more like their first rounder, Geelong's first rounder and Tomlinson for #2, but that's probably contingent on one of them finishing top 4.

Overs, like waaaaay overs.

Between them they haven't influenced a single game of football.

Okay, so we're at the table. You guys are poles apart. Go.

neither deal can be considered in isolation.

say we can get another pick around 10 through another trade... an end of first PP we may be content to go to the draft with say 10, 15, 20 or package 19 & 20 for something around 8.

Lots of other factors at play and focusing on whether an individual trade is unders or overs is misguided.

A high second round pick traded for a bloke/s who can't get a game. It doesn't sit well with me unless it's a shallow draft.
He may be on the outer because they know he is gone at the end of the season. Who knows?

I am expecting a LOT of wheeling and dealing this year, even more than last year, to get a couple of first rounders as well as some talent in. The big unknown is our trade bait.

Kreuzer, Thomas, Casboult, Graham, Everitt are all expendable but none have outstanding currency. Kreuzer might get a late first rounder but more likely be part of a favourable package. Could see him fitting in at the Dogs but not sure what they would give up. Richmond would probably like him too but would try to screw us so screw them.

Tomlinson is the new saviour?

He is only playing NEAFL right?
He is, but his potential is pretty good. And he seriously can't get a game for the Giants. And no way will be offer the same deal we did last year.

probably about right. which is why I would lean toward the wobbles 1st being included- something like:

#2, 38, 56 for #8, Tomlinson, Marchbank

Hand me that pen...

I reckon it's win/win.

They are giving up Marchbank & #8 for an unfettered hit at top range talent without using picks for academy coverage, plus two more relatively handy academy picks.

We get a good pick at 8, a quality KPD prospect in Marchbank and a lead up fwd as steak knives.

If we can package other picks to move up in the draft...

Is that you SOS? Like the thinking.

If we got a hold of pick 2, i'd be inclined to use it, unless there is an out and out gun at pick 8. Two average players and a good pick don't always make up for a very high pick. It's a big call.

Here's what I think...

Marchbank has done next to nothing and been injured. Not worth more than pick 20.
Tomlinson can't get a game and when he's in, he gets dropped the following week. Not worth more than pick 20 again.

I think we will finish last. We then have picks 1, 19(priority), 20, 39, 57, 75

Trade Gibbs. That's right, trade him to Adelaide for pick (let's say) 15.

Give up pick 1 and pick 20 for gws first, geelong first and Collingwood first.
So example: out 1 and 20
In 7 (Collingwood) 10 (gws) 14 (geelong)

We then have picks 7, 10, 14, 15, 19, 57, 75

We then offer Freo picks 10, 57 and 75 for Lachie Neale and get freos 2nd pick back (24)

We offer gws pick 19 and 57 for Marchbank and Tomlinson.

We offer pick 14 and 15 to gcs for Prestia and their first round pick (16)

We walk out of trade week with losing Gibbs and pick 1 and end up with:
Lachie Neale, Prestia, Marchbank, Tomlinson, 7, 16, 24

I see what you're saying, but I suspect Tomlinson has a much higher ceiling than Jones, and he's got a better workrate than Jaksch.
There would be a number of clubs who would be interested in Tomlinson.
Absolutely. If you put up 12 possessions 6 marks as a the lowest output for a pass for a key forward. Jones and Jaksch aren't achieving it in the 2s. While delivery will be better in 1sts so will the quality of the defenders. Doesn't give you great hopes on their progression.

To get the numbers Tomlinson has in the last 2 weeks at least shows the workrate needed. Good forwards get plenty of uncontested possessions/marks through workrate.

The problem with people's lists of trades is that apart from Gibbs (maybe) and Murphy ( we wont trade him unless he puts his hand up) the rest are average to ordinary. SOS would be a genius to get anything in the 20's for Everitt or Casboult or Thomas - and in Thomas' case who would pay his contract terms he has with us?

The Gibbs (length of) and Thomas ( amount of) contracts are pretty much the last hurdles to ground zero for Carlton - they may be the albatrosses we have to wear for past silliness unfortunately.

I wouldn't mind betting we hold pick 1 at years end.

If we hold pick 1 at the end of the year, what's the chance we also hold pick 2?
Possible but unlikely. Delusiondon are more likely to hold 2 & 3 - which would shit me to tears

Spot on. Still think Kreuzer maybe worth something good in a package. Had high hopes that Thomas would come good this year mainly so we could trade him. Nothing against him personally, just wrong age profile etc You'd have to pay a fair whack of his contract if he was to go, but cest la vie.

Think I would rather hit the draft with our picks I'm feeling a bit over these GWS rejects

We might change our minds when Plowman starts playing seniors - however becoming obvious that Jacksh is shaky and Whiley is a trier. Phillips too early but plays small and Lamb - well....maybe more like mutton.

People did say hat Plowman was the target and the others were rejects - whilst Jacksh - well what can you say when the bloke has to be given a kick up the backside to try and become a professional footballer? Low expectations for all of them except maybe Plowman and Sumner.
