Marcus Adams is very much the exception, and it was just his second season of a full-time commitment to senior football, similar to Boekhorst (though obviously a more committed athlete prior).

He's also 193 cms, and will get chopped up by the Tom Lynch types.
I'll look forward to watching the bullies v gold coast game adams is also a tank at 98kgs

Sam Mcclure on Talking Footy just said we are heavily courting Caleb Marchbank
Loving the intrigue this far out.
SOS won't die wondering, do we trade top 3 pick for Marchbank, (Tomlinson/Patton/Stewart) and a
late first rounder and maybe change their way.

Backline
Tuohy, Marchbank, Plowman
Docherty, Weitering, Byrne
Throw Simmo, Buckley, DVR, Sheehan or Thomas in the mix with Jaksch and JGM in the wings.

Edit: few with similar thoughts

Hooker doesn't have multiple issues with both of his shoulders, and will be fresh after a year out of the game. He's probably the best free agent option over the next 36 months.

I'm very glad you're not SOS.
Surely you're taking the piss.

A: He would cost too much
B: Our backline is actually the only area starting to look ok
C: He isn't the right age
D: He's had a year out of the game
E: Why would he want to go to a club which will likely spend the next 3-4 years down the bottom?

I legit can't think of a single reason why Hooker would come to us. Both on our end and his.

Tomlinson is worth about a second rounder or less to me (not on his ability but on how theyte playing him), Marchbank probably worth a late first, so if we were to give up pick #1-3 i'd want something like pick #6-10 back or two picks in the #12-18 range.

Strongly against trading away pick 1-3 unless it is for an established KPF (Tom Lynch) or gun midfielder (Dylan Shiel) under 23 or so. Package deals have left a sour taste in my mouth.

An uncontracted Marchbank shouldn't be worth more than pick 10.

Write up what you think our 2018-2020 back six will look like

Touhy Weitering Jaksch (hopefully)
Docherty Plowman Byrne

Either way I don't think a 30yr old Hooker would make much difference.
That leaves us pretty thin on the ground in terms of a senior reserve, which we'll need for a deep finals push.

It also runs against the grain of Jaksch's own belief on where his best football is, as well as where it appears to be given his general form: he's a forward.

It doesn't have to be Hooker, but we need a mature option brought onto our list over the next 18 months, and we don't need to give up picks to sign a quality free agent.

Geelong will probably finish top 6... so GWS will probably have a mid/late first rounder.

#2 and ? for Tomlinson, Marchbank and #12-16.

Assuming Tomlinson is still fringe by years end will be worth max... pick 20... add the fact he'll no doubt want to leave for more opportunity.

Marchbank IMO is still worth around pick #10 dependent on whether he asks to leave and chooses Carlton.

Yep I'd do that trade for two quality talls and we still bag two quality mids at 12 and pick 19. Add to that another quality tall or mid as DFA and we're certainly looking better.

Agreed. No way should we be handing over our first pick for anyone.
Tomlinson for our second rounder is a good deal. He can't even get a game when Cameron is out and Patton isn't in great form.

He is getting 30 possessions and 15 marks a game in the 2s. While it is a lower standard than VFL, Jones is get 8 possessions and 4marks, Jaksch not much better.

All depends on what we'd have to give up but I like it. That backline is mouthwatering & a great age profile. I'm a big fan of Marchbank.

As a few have said on here, our successful teams of the past have been built from the back & SOS knows it. That back 6 is quality.

Precisely what the hugely successful Italian national soccer teams of the 60's-00's were famous for....SOS...just putting it out there.

I do like Tomlinson but we should temper our expectations based upon NEAFL form. Let's not forget that each of the GWS players we've already traded in tore that 'second tier' comp to shreds during their time up there...

I see what you're saying, but I suspect Tomlinson has a much higher ceiling than Jones, and he's got a better workrate than Jaksch.
There would be a number of clubs who would be interested in Tomlinson.
