Carlton's head of recruiting Shane Rogers has quit the club on the eve of the 2015 season, a matter of months after signing a new contract.

Rogers, who was elevated to head of recruiting before the 2012 season, has left in the wake of Carlton's restructure of the club's recruiting and list management. It was well known in AFL recruiting circles that Rogers was unhappy with the restructure, which saw him reporting to the club's new general manager of list management, Stephen Silvagni.

Just starting to get things right in the recruiting department too

It may be a little early to tell if he was doing a good job or not, someone may have a better opinion, I guess you'd have to go back through previous drafts and look at what we were missing and presuming they have a good eye and knowledge for talent make a judgement on that.

Looking at 2012, I'd say Temay was a bad one. Menzel looks pretty good, Graham was probably good get. I haven't looked to see who we missed. Missed Frost in the rookie draft but who didn't. 2013 is hard to say yet, It's looking like Cripps might be a real good player, Giles I think would be a very good player but has been injured and Holman is still underdeveloped. 2014 draft haven't had a chance to take the field yet but from what some have seen that the three first picks could play this year and Foster has loads of potential as a key forward. Yes Boekhorst was a little controversial. For me there looks to be something to work with with Walsh not sure on the rest though, it's really far too early.

I don't know if it's because he was better than Hughes who was a disaster or if Rogers actually was good I can't say but I thought he was going alright.

Our trading was very good, I haven't listed it but quite a few poor payers have left and some good ones have come in. Docherty, Whiley, Everitt, Dick, Jaksch, Tutt, Thomas, ones all come to mind.

It would be a disaster if we replaced him with a lesser recruiter, it would bring us to our knees.

Anyone - would have been better than previous regime - anyone. Rogers seems to have done ok- but apart from Menzel there isn't a regular starting player in the lot - yet.

Still a bit sad to see Rogers go - because recruitment probably benefits from continuity.

In other news about time that ****ing car race started paying for itself........

Hundreds of thousands to pay much more to see GP, Senate hearing told.

SOS had better be good at his new job............

IMO he's done nothing to prove it yet.

Agree, the prick hasn't even drafted us one player yet! Rodger drafted 10!
