Brisbane's shock at James Aish first telling the club he was going to re-sign only to demand a trade to Collingwood can be explained by the $375,000 per year family members were offered by Collingwood affiliated companies outside of the club's salary cap. Similar to how Treloar's partner was offered a $175,000 per year position McGuire lined up in a position where the median salary is $78,265 and the top salary is $112,254 (according to PayScale).

For years there has been a plethora of filth players appearing on TFS and getting paid outside the salary cap for those appearances. And then Travis Cloke's third party agreement with channel 9... ummm how many TV appearances does Trav have to make a year to warrant that sort of endorsement?

And the AFL made us put Judds final year of the visy player payments into our salary cap... and forced GWS to put Scullys dad's salary into the TPP... but the filth (and I reckon Essendon*) can get away with this shit.

I would be more inclined to give Slobbo a call and make out like it's a rock solid source that Collingwood are bypassing the salary cap by giving inducements through third parties to player family members.

I think there's an element of wishful thinking. Unless you have evidence to the contrary that pick 11 had been handshook on and GWS backed out at the last minute.

The 2 parties had 8 1/2 working days to bash out a deal. This side deal could easily have been a variation on the GWS4 trade.

Tomo manager tells him of the trade and he follows Carlton on twitter. Carlton gets their media involved.

Fremantle finds out and pressure gws into a trade for McCarthy. Gws feeling the pressure knowing they could lose both right then decide to stop the 3 way trade.

Carlton desperate still trade the picks with doggies and pull the trigger on yarran trade hoping to persuade gws. But it didn't happen. Tomo then unfollows Carlton and media team pack up and leave.
