Carlton, has been one of the highest pro merger candidates for years! You looked seriously at Sydney, North and Fitzroy, North being the highest profile one.

In fact every Victorian club has looked at merging with one side or another over the years

It is quite amusing coming from a Hawthorn supporter. They had the chance to merge and enjoy the success that the Lions have enjoyed, but they all got sucked in by Don Scott's little hissy fit and have been sitting in the bottom half of the ladder virtually every year since then.

Let the dorks supporters enjoy the moral high ground that comes from beating a team minus its 2 key forwards. I look forward to the return clash when we have Fev and Waite in the team and our midfield again dominates the clearances against the, supposed, clearance kings. They perhaps should have a chat to the Tigers supporters about getting too far ahead of themselves (see 2005).

I can't stress enough I don't agree with what the first poster said (it's a crap post and thread), but surely it's been a success NOT merging. We have one of the highest memberships, and have played in 2 finals series and won a piece of silver ware. Heck we even have a nest!

Ask a Roo supporter regarding the innital proposed merger followed by the proposed takeover during the late 1980's and early 1990's. Carlton offered to play 11 games in Sydney in 1992 and on more then one occasion offered to merge with Fitzroy (8 clubs offered, of course other then North they weren't considered 'fair' by the Roy administration)
