Increasing our development coaching staff from 2.5 to 5.5 coaches next year (presumably the .5 is part timers).
Also investing $$$ into the VFL program and appointing a full time VFL head coach.

Meanwhile, Truck is somewhere screaming 'THANKS FOR THE HELP, EVERYONE'
Thats probably the part that will make it hard to judge Truck on. Its welcome of course long overdue. But could have made a ton of difference to him too. Almost like Knights/ to Hird. Not about the coaches, but the money spend of the footy dept a step in the right direction.

What a lot of fluff, where the **** is the sacking of Dodoro.

I read it in connection with the previous line so the 3 new FT roles in player development are GM-Performance, Head of Development and VFL Head Coach. But the VFL coach already existed as a part time role so that's only adding 0.5 overall compared to 2022.

To get from 2.5 in 2022 to 5.5 in 2023 there must be another part-time role being added as well, which might be Hurley's role in the Jack Jones Academy + VFL? Guessing the other two roles that are already full time must be Tudor and Roberts. Not sure where Fletch fits in or if he gave it away..? Was originally thinking the 2.0 might be 4x part time assistant but it's not adding up

The other interesting thing re: VFL is that they haven't backed in Brent Stanton as the VFL Head Coach in question, just "VFL coach will be full-time and will be an EFC coach".

I swear like two years ago they were saying the players were overdoing it?

Or are some overdoing it and some under-doing it?
They weren't doing it smart, I think.

Just curious McCartney was involved and that they're recommending changes to the high performance side of things.

Wonder if Punxsutawney Phil could fill us in on how long this weather pattern is going to last.

We’ve also lost our James Hird Academy coach who has taken up the equivalent role with the Pies, so maybe that becomes a part time role and they add a FTE somewhere else?

We want to be a club and not a business again that's what it says. Let pray to god we actually do it haven't been this excited about a communication from the club in 15 years. Hopefully I'm not dissapointed

I remember Murphy saying a while ago that the players need to learn how to train at the level. Maybe some more support in this area .

If this isn't further evidence that our (once great) club drinks its own bath water twice then nothing will ever change.

So many points that are coming out have been yelled from the roof tops for a decade.

Fitness is an issue, has been for some time it feels like,
development for as long as most can remember,
drafting and list strategy is as poor as any start up in the last 15 years,
indigenous heritage has been lost,

all points made in recent years but fallen on deaf ears.

All in the mean time the same people making the same dumb mistakes continue to hold positions of significant power. No wonder we are a basket case

Geeze the boys better be rock hard fit for round 1 next year. Have repeatedly heard from heppell that was the hardest preseason ever etc etc. don’t think many of the guys know what hard training is.

Its nice to have your shouting from the rooftops finally acknowledged by the people who can actually do something about it though right

Interesting the review mentions trading standards. Have been told some of the fitness issues are related to a lack of precision in recovery and the basics which was why Murphy mentioned the players needing to learn how to train at the level.

A few not ticking all the boxes .
