First the substance - he said Chappie and Tommahawk would play this weekend and that it's possible but not certain that Varcoe will.

Now the rest. Steve Johnson has been accepted back into the fold, being allowed to train and participate with the AFL playing group. The reason is so that he will understand all the new game-play etc that has been developed for this year. He stated categorically that he still won't play until round 6 though. Personally, I think that's good - the player is being punished but not the club (expect for him not playing in itself, which is of arguable value).

Bomber said the atmosphere down at the club is excellent and has been a joy to work in. He's generally happy about all the changes that have been made.

There were a few standard observations about the Darwin game etc, nothing out of the ordinary.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and he also mentioned that Otto might not be played this weekend after all (fantstic form, keep him fresh etc).

on the afl website it says that bomber said that hawkins will play against brisbane?? is that right? he wasnt picked in the squad so surely he meant in the reserves?

"Speaking to Melbourne radio station SEN 1116, Thompson said Hawkins would be named in the team to take on Brisbane in this week's NAB Cup semi-final, along with former captain Steven King, but that forward Brad Ottens was not a certain starter."
