I wasn't going to bother responding to the trolls, but I will to you. Don't you think that the fact it was played in Canberra might have something to do with the low attendances, rather than them losing the week before.![]()

I suppose the fact that Essendon lost by 79 points the week before, making it virtually impossible for them to make the pre-seaosn finals (hence making the contest against Geelong meaningless) had nothing to do with the turn-out.
Geelong lost the week before too as a matter of fact.

You knob. That crowd of 22,000, was one of the biggest non-Grand Final Ansett Cup crowds of all time. Obviously, any team which is losing, is going to get less crowds than when they are winning. Any team. But Essendon stll got a very good crowd in a pre season match, even though the match was essentialy meaningless, since they couldn't make the semi-finals. Remember, Essendon played in front of one million spectators in 1997, and we finished 14th!Originally posted by The Old Dark Navy's:

Now is that different people?
Because if not even 500 000 different people went to the footy as a total last year.I doubt 1 million went just to watch Essendon.

eer you think 6 million different people went to watch the AFL.
I dont think so
Try less than half a million
Dont forget people go more than once
Many going up to 18 times.
Or all the members going at least 11.
