Could have left Simmonds (who about about 18 was a baby giraffe) a paraplegic. You've got a young ruck who has his head over the ball, and a guy with over a decade of experience comes in and lines him up with absolutely no concern for the damage he could do. Love a good hit, but this was almost criminal. Could almost let him off for it had he not been a complete campaigner afterwards.

Nah that's rubbish, he had issues early on in his career but had put most of that behind him before the hit in the GF, which was dumb & dangerous but he is hardly alone when it comes to these type of incidents, even in today's football.

From memory Long only ended up missing one game because the AFL allowed him to serve Ansett Cup matches as part of the suspension.
