'booing' the National Anthem.

I thought it was fantastic. A bit of gamesmanship to let them know they were playing away. No malice or racism in it. I'd confidently predict most aussies who booed or enjoyed the booing would happily have a beer with a uruguayan today.

I don't see it any differently as booing the oppositions song at an AFL game.

I used to enjoy burning the american flag.

and when they had a minutes silence at the footy for princess Di, I said good riddence to the ******** :D

I had no problem with it, in fact I was calling for it in the lead up.

If you are a football fan and were following the whole situation in the lead up to the qualifiers, you would have seen how disgraceful the Uruguayans were...

Complaining about the nationality of the ref for the second leg (originally he was a Belgium ref and Uruguay argued succesfully that he would be bias to Australia because our coach is Dutch  ), complaining that we had the 2nd leg in Sydney, and then changing the kick-off time to 9:00pm in an attempt to get to Australia some 24 hours before us, only for their chartered flight to fall through and we had ours ready and they sulked to FIFA under the "fair play" act to change the time back again. The girly's rude bits.

Not to mention the arrogance of their players and coach, mainly Recoba who trashed us at every opportunity and said Uruguay had a "divine right" to get through.

And the fact that they abused and heckled and threatened us in the players tunnel prior to walking out in Sydney.

I was also waiting to see how anthem was treated in Montevideo...they whilsted, booed, jeered and chanted through the whole thing.

That was it for me...

I'd boo them again.

I remember a few Tiger fans heckling out during the 1 minutes silence for the 9/11 attacks in NEW YORK before the final against Carlton in 2001.
I was fine with it, as I was with booing the Uruguay national anthem. The way they treated the Aussie players 4 years ago was a disgrace

I think it was quite embarrasing watching Australian Socceroo Fans 'booing' during Uruguay's National Anthem.

That just shows how sick some people are and the disrespect that have for other nations.

I don't know if they did it to us when we played in there home, but regardless if they did or not it was still very un-Australian and something that they should be ashamed for.

Yes, I think it was disgusting behaviour and it was totally uncalled for in my opinion.

The Urgays deserved what they got though ben.

I didn't like it and found it embarassing to tell you the truth.

On the other hand, I don't care what happens to those losers when they get back "home".

Not sure why that is.......

Every ANZAC day at the MCG as people are standing for the minutes silence, every year just before the silence ends some guy (me) yells out "Carn the Pies"

I've been told many times that I should not do it, because I have no respect for the dead.

I always reply "Those guys would be glad to hear me yell it out - so what's the problem"

That is different, that is a disgrace. You make every single collingwood supporter look like a scumbag! Not to mention that it is extremely disrespectful!!!

It happens at every international qualifying match these days so it's just the way it is.If you don't like it no one cares so go away.

Well said. If you followed the qualifiers between the two countries than you would know that it was completely acceptable behaviour for us to boo their national anthem.
