Always been a fan but I doubt he'd make it throught the squad unless we had some serious injuries but I think the main focus will be the development of the younger players and they would most probably be in the front of the queue before he gets selected for a game.

I reckon we may keep him for midfield depth. There is others who will go before him ie Smith, S Stevens, Massie, Begley, Ladhams, Clarke, Scui :( and Krugs :( - in that order.

Agreed 100%. Also, considering the apparent lack of depth in the draft, it makes even more sense.

The quality of the draft will be a big factor in who goes and who stays, we have already lost Turbo and strong indication Clarke will retire too. Out of the names listed here, I would think Begley, Ladhams, Krueger, Smith and Schuback(which dissapoints me to say, cuz I think he is a talent but I don't think he has the mental drive to make it now) will be the delists at the end of the year. It really will come back to the quality of the draft. Which means Massie and Scott Stevens will be saved from being axed, but Matty Bode won't survive. The AFC may issue a challenge to Bode, Begley Ladhams and Schuie to prove themselves fitness wise and then offer them a 1 year contract, but their attitude would have to be right.

With the current amount of players up for trade or delisting we should ensure that there is still adequate back up in the case of injury (very lucky this season). We do not have enough younger players ready to replace injuries to established players and it would put too much pressure on our list if these senior players where disgarded. I would suggest that massie, begley and bode may all stay as they are all capable still playing competitive AFL. That said they may also be traded.

It's a pity about Ladhams and Schuie becuase I believe they both have the required skill to compete at the highest level. Schuie may scrape through but I doubt it. As for Ladhams, he's 25 this year and if he hasn't got his sh*t together by now, I doubt if he ever will.

I agree Springy that given our other likely delistings, Bode will probably be kept as an experienced depth player. For me it was betweeen him & Schuey & given the attitude I saw from Jacob, I would prefer to keep someone who gives 100% (even with worse skills).

Of your delistings, I agree with the exception of Massie & perhaps S Stevens. I think we need to keep him as a depth player now that Begley is likely to retire. I reckon S Stevens may stay on to, with Kreuger being the one to go.

The delistings could also depend on whether we think any rookies are worth promoting, given we wouldn't want too many late picks in the draft.

when fit he is a handy player to have on the squad, he is wat you would call a third tier player at this stage but when he is up and going he would be the second tier or top type of player. Hope he stays im a huge fan of Crusty.

There are going to be a big calls for the club this year. We have a very long list of possible delistings. Most will go and a few will survive, the hard part for the club is working out which ones we keep. I cant see any of them going on to be prominent players for us or anyone else for that matter, but we need a few to fill the list and keep some depth at the club just in case. Personally I think Ladhams, Schuback and Begley are the more talented, but Massie and Bode are probably more reliable and harder working. Its a tough one. The reality is though, that those who escape the axe this year will probably get it next year anyway.

I reckon it's between Ladhams and Schuie and I reckon Schuies age ( 21 ) may save him.

I also reckon they will keep one of Smith, S Stevens or Krugs. IMO, Krug has more potential than the other 2. If S Stevens was a little tougher he may have made it.

Massie and Begley would be very lucky to remain.

Clarke should be a definite retirement.

I think the thing that will save Bodey is that most of our MF's( Not be confused with MILF's ) will be over 30 next year.

Surely Bode is more chance of staying on the list than Massie (some have said he'll go before Massie). How many games has Massie played this year? One, and that despite being healthy for the majority of the year. At least Bode gets selected every now and then when he's not injured.

Bode's last game for the AFC this season was Round 2 vs Collingwood, and his last quarter was superb. From memory he hurt his shoulder and went out, and I presume it's the same injury that he's just had surgery on.

You know with Bode that you aren't getting Darren Jarman-esque disposal, but he's got something to offer as an extra midfielder, or even as a half forward flanker. I would imagine that we're going to be concentrating on midfield types in this year's draft, so why delist a viable one?

Unlike most Iam prepared to put myself out there and make the early call :p

People in general seem to forget the facts you've posted there marvin.

WW, IMO there's no way that Bode will be delisted. The fact that he's had his shoulder op now indicates he's getting ready to do a strong pre-season. Very handy back-up mid-fielder.

Yes, he'll be overcome eventually by the young lads, but IMO he's a certainty to get at least a 1 year contract as insurance.

Unlike Smith, Krueger, Schuback etc he has proven that he can play at AFL level.

As I said the call is early - we'll see who is right ;)

I cant see us delisted Bode. There are others in front of him well and truely.
A good backup player with AFL experience and we wont delist 6 players either. Be lucky to be 5. There at least a few without too many AFL games or none that will get the flick before he does. ;)

No way Bode will get delisted at the end of this year.

#1, the guy is a very effective crumbing forward. Don't know if people have forgotten this or not, but IMHO he seems to be about our only good crumber (aside from maybe Johc*ck and McLeod). Why get rid of him?

#2, he has talent and works his @ss off. Have you all forgotten how he almost single-handedly saved the game against Collingwood earlier this year? That kind of desperation and refusal to lose is something we need around the club for reasons that don't have anything to do with the physical side of football. Remember, culture is a big part of a sporting organization and that culture is built in large part by the mentality of your playing group.
