I already asked this in the "numpty questions" thread, but who cares...

Does anyone know what Micky Conlan's stance on the merger was?
I think he punched a wall for 10 minutes.

Mick would need a nice offer of coin to be in the mix.

I dont believe Conlan was against the merger.

I heard Conlan speak at a Fitzroy Brisbane Historical Society event at Brunswick street a little while back and he didnt seem upset or saddened by the merger.

Didnt Conlan travel from Korea to attend the Kings of the Pride function because he really wanted to be a part of this significant event?

Any vision of the presser? I've missed it so far.

Didn't pick this happening quite this early. but I'm obviously pleased. I've been critical of him in the past and been on the receiving end of some of his brand of dismissive obtuseness, but I'm sure he did everything to help the club. It may have backfired spectacularly, but I couldn't accuse him of not having the best interests of the club at heart.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! THANK ****ING CHRIST !!!!

That arseh*le set our awesome club back about 15 years

Just saw a brief snippet of the press conference on Fox Sports News.

Bowers certainly didn't look like someone who was walking away happily. Said something about "If the board aren't on the same page as the CEO it can't work".

Seriously, lol at any media type trying to paint this as a symptom, not a potential cure.

Oooop - in other news, in an emotionally stirring scene, Darth Vader just swelled up his last ounce of strength to throw Emperor Palpatine into the Death Star's energy core, to protect that dearest to him, unite him with his estranged son, and restore peace to the galaxy.

Tim Clarke, on the scene, filed this report:

Palpatine boned as Vader fall out continues

The casualties surrounding Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader have continued today, this time Emperor Palpatine being the latest departure.

Departing via a most extraordinary means, literally diving to avoid the scandal, Palpatine's frustrations with both Skywalker and Vader were made abundently clear on his way out, his commenting "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhh".

The recent past has been nothing but failure for Vader, his having failed to protect the first death star from destruction, his having failed to turn young Skywalker to the dark side, failing to encase him in carbonite at Cloud City, or even realise Leia was in fact his own daughter while holding her captive.

Sources say the fall out is likely to continue, today's events having left the entire Galactic Empire in tatters.

Look the guy is a germ he completely ****ed over our club I'm glad his gone all he did when in charge was set our Mighty club backwards and as much as I've tried to talk myself into "liking" our jumper I really don't :o I can't even bring myself to buy one and I collect AFL jumpers I loved our old jumper there was nothing wrong with it I just hope who ever takes over as CEO of the Lions learns from Bowers mistakes and brings our Mighty club forward instead of backwards.

Reading this thread I take it you're all pretty happy with this.
This was the guy who lead the divisive logo change...no?

Yep, along with Tony Kelly (who "stepped down" as Chairman recently for "family commitments").

OMFG I just found out, how great/exciting is this :) Nothing but positive news from the club at all angles lately :D:thumbsu: My lions are coming back to me and im very excited about seeing us in action next year!

Oh god, I think if they announce the old jumper coming back id have to change my pants :p

I can see myself buying a membership in the near future (first time, was going to after 2009, but then....well you know)

GO LIONS :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Bowers latest in long line of Lions departures Caroline Wilson and Martin Boulton
October 21, 2010

Bowers, a lawyer, delivered good financial managementafter coming on board in 2002. But a fifth season of seven-figure losses is believed to have affected the club's ability to recruit assistant coaches, and is expected to restrict rookie list additions next season.
