That's what scares me. Clayton has shown very little imagination in his last 4 drafts and I suspect he will go for someone like Ray or Tenace again.

I thought Clayton's last effort was very good and his first effort was fantastic.
Walsh, Faulkner, Minson and BMurphy were good selections from last year.

I can understand why Doggie supporters might not think Ray is a good fit but Tenace is a fair bit different to Ray.
I think they are both decent candidates

From what I've seen of Farren Ray, he is capable of gaining clean possession of a contested ball at full pace, it's a very improtant quality in lightning paced modern AFL football. Some recruiters may see this quality and rate it higher than others.

Farren's almost lone hand, four quarter performance against Vic Metro in this year's Under 18 carnival, when his team was absolutley smashed, was anything but that of a downhill skier.

So you are basing these assumptions on a three game carnival then?

Really Dasler, it's pretty clear that being in Victoria my or Goalden Hawk's knowledge of any WA player would be fairly restricted. For the record, all up I've seen Farren Ray play five matches.

Am I just sceptical but could your continual anti-Farren Ray sentiment have anything to do with this young players role in Peel's defeat of your beloved South Fremantle late this WAFL season? And could it possibly have cut deep to be put out of the final's race by a team that only won one solitary game for the season? Refresh my memory, but wasn't Farren Ray inamed Peel's best player that very dirt day for your beloved South Fremantle? In one of his first senior WAFL games?

Geez Dasler, maybe if you offered constructive appraisal of Farren Ray with your superior knowledge of everything WA, then maybe we Viccos could be enlightened and low and behold we may even be able to have a meritorious discussion.
A meritorious discussion? Christ I'm naive, after all this is BIGfooty.;)

Come on Dasler, dazzle me with your comeback, I know you've got it in you.;)

I can't say I have seen Ray play more than 3 times, but he was awesome in the carnival.

I'd like him at pick 5. Very quick, runs all day and has a lovely kick.

The imagination some people have. Vintage vintage yes I was extremely annoyed that Peel beat us, but that was out fault for letting them and they thoroughly deserved their victory. And for the record being at the game it was Derek Hall and Darren Bolton that hurt us. Farren was OK.

The reason I am not a fan is I simply see him as an outside outside outside midfielder with no discernable brilliance. His left foot is ok, but if you watch the tapes from the 18's, see how many actually hit targets.

Farren has talent, that is evident, but he is being beefed up too much atm, where he could develop his game more. He simply won't cut it at AFL level until he does.

Explaination good enough? If you want more info PM RooMatera, he's seen farren play more than me anyways.

Waters will not get past the first round.

Think he will most likely go to Freo at either pick 10 or 12.

I doubt it. May go 2nd round, but not first.

Russian - I think Port would rather Schmidt than Waters, simply because they need a player like Schmidt rather than Waters.

If Port get Willoughby + Symes i would like to think they'll be looking to 3 years time when chances are Hardwick, Montgomery and Wanganeen will be gone. Reckon Waters will slot into one of their roles. Willoughby,Symes,Salopek into a midfield of James,Francou,Carr,Burgoyne looks good enough to me.

We'll find out in 3 weeks

That's a fair point Russian. But I still think they'll go for Schmidt.

We will find out in 3 weeks ;)

Happy to be quoted on it after draft day.

Repeat - He will not last past round one.

He could very well miss the 1st round. Could go anywhere between 12 and 25.

You can write this in ink and quote me later :

1. Cooney
2. Walker
3. Sylvia
4. Ray

In addition to the above Top 4, the mail is strong that the Demons will bypass Tenace and Bradley at pick 5 and go for another hard nut (in addition to Sylvia at 3).

The mail is its currently between Dunn and McLean.

If this happens then this would also open up the draft for the Dons and make Tenace seem like a steal at 6.

I can not see Bradley getting past the dogs at 4 but damn i hope your right! Especially good for us Bombers to get Tenace.

Phaedrus from my end your mail on the top 4 is 100% correct. Don't know about beyond pick 4 but your mail seems very good, so I'd trust you on what you say.

Heard the same thing.

I'd prefer McLean but I get the feeling we will go for Dunn.

You are exactly right.
For some reason dasler, roo matera, weaver etc., are biased towards this kid and whilst they won't say it reckon he's soft. Well, they say it in a round about way by referring to him as a downhill skier because they are all too weak to say outright that he's soft. Dasler chooses to refer to him as an outside or outside outside player as if the term outside means a player who is essentially a receiver and doesn't win the hard ball which is wrong.
On another point dasler, you see fit to have a go at 79vintage about his above comment or assumptions being based on a three game carnival yet you agree with weaver who would also only have seen him three times.
I don't recall seeing the term downhill skier being used in relation to any other player who has been discussed on this thread and I noticed that weaver re wrote his original assessment and deleted the term.
The bottom line is that for self appointed armchair experts to refer to a 17yr old kid as a downhill skier (soft) is unfair and each of you should take a long hard look at yourselves.
