I'd imagine you'll need to trade your second round and something else to get another pick in the mid first round. That would get it done. So say you trade Barlow and pick ..... Ah crap, you don't have a second rounder. Well it's gonna take some work. Might have include future picks. No wonder they've started talking early.

This has stupid trade written all over it. We're heading for a rebuild and although he is still young enough to be around for the next crack, he is not the player we need, let alone in this point in time. Honestly the bloke has an inch of the talent Stephen does, but his arrogance and the great team beside him makes him the better player.

Take away the workload the other Hawks midfielders (and everyone else there) take on, and he loses his freedom and belief.

Honestly this would be one of our worst ever trades. Freo have no second rounder and that's why you'd say is fair. The only hope for us is Hawthorn look at a Mayne or Barlow and they back themselves to turn them into as good as they used to be (and Hawthorn is obviously pretty decent at that).

Otherwise we'll just be left with a pick gone, a front running squib, and future shades of Des Headland Mk II.

Brad Hill is the best player at Hawthorn at spotting up a target inside the 50 with his short passes. He's not a long or penetrating kick but he's an accurate kick always takes the right options.

An early 2nd round pick might get it done at the end of the season.

You're underrating him. One of the best runners in the game.

The way the game's being played now, with less rotations etc, he would walk into any team.

Look, we have different priorities.

We need to trade for McCarthy, and Hill isn't worth pick 3.
I agree with you he's a quality player but it may be one of those that wait one year or Hawthorn accept unders this year because we don't have a second round.

Next year he's still only 24 and he's out of contract...so...

ANy other year we'd put a second round on the table and it'd get done

Considering the level of football IQ displayed in your comments on Tabs and Crozier anything that you think is a bad idea is almost certainly a brilliant one. We might have a second rounder if Mayne leaves.

His value is around pick 15 IMO, so the only way I can see this getting done is a 3 or 4 way deal. And please don't include list cloggers like Mayne and Suban like its meant to be some kind of sweetener.

I wasn't. Mayne leaves as a free agent and we get a compensation pick. Even plenty of Hawks supporters think what you are saying is massively off base.

Won't happen then. 2nd rounder at best is what we will offer I reckon and personally I'm not fussed whether that is accepted or not.

I'd be interested. Sure he's not quite a "need" right now, but if we've got anything left after this McCarthy thing is done, I'd certainly have a look.
Honestly, I'm hoping we don't throw the bloody farm at McCarthy at this point, and consider our options.

Yeah I wonder what games they're watching to put Sheridan anywhere near hill.

This crap about Hill being an average kick is absolute horseshit.
The kid weights and delivers his kicks to the leading forwards beautifully

Usually after running flat knackers for 5 minutes too. He has had a rough year but his tank is in the top 10 for the league, if not higher. He is just always in space.

That said it is going to take some creative work on both sides to get this done, #3 is clearly overs and there isn't another obvious option.

I guess we'll see. I would imagine a first rounder would be required though. As someone on our board said, Jed Anderson, an unproven Gunston and O'Rourke all netted first round picks... Hill you'd think would be worth the same or more, he's a better player than two of those guys..

Despite your slightly belligerent response, you'd think Clarkson and Lyon will find a way to make it happen and like most, I can't see how it will be done without a thrid team coming to play.

Just my opinion, but I reckon straight trade for Tucker, who is a very promising player, I'll probably get howled down but I think it would be a fair trade.

Would love to extract Weller for Hill and Litherland but probably won't happen. Hayden Crozier and steak knives could get a deal done.

Good player but is made to look that good by a great team. Seems to have become undisciplined lately and I'm concerned it has Des Headland or Jetta written all over it.

We should have had him with pick 29 years ago, what were our recruiters thinking ?!? (and don't get me started on the McGoverns )

But.. but...

Suban was meant to be the next Hodge :drunk: :straining:

He's worth about pick 24-32, he is a younger slightly better version of Danyle Pearce. He suits the Hawks as an icing on the cake player, reckon if we grabbed him it could be a Lewis Jetta style trade.

They can have Suban and two (yes two!) Pearces of the D and C variety.

That's a bargain if I've ever heard of one.
