The last time we traded for someone's brother it cost us an arm and a leg and a few toes as well. Josh Carr came to us for picks - 11, 27 & 43.
Ah the good old days.... Josh Carr played 85 games for us from 2005-8. Then he fled back to port. I still hate Port ever since. What made it worse was carr was actually out of contract when that trade happened.

Also... last time freo traded a top 10 pick was in 2006 whem we traded pick 8 ans paul medhurst for chris tarrant.

Do I want Brad Hill? yes i do but at a fiar price... for freo. I wouldnt both hill boys on the wings.

I want to keep pick 3. Imagine if we use pick 3 on Sam petreski senton, Get brad hill and bennell recovers from his injury.

Just offer Sheridan.

The club would be silly to not go for Hill. He will be motivated to get a flag with his brother. Sheridan Sutcliffe or Langdon if he is going should do the job.Maybe a third rounder to sweeten the deal.
Hill would give us a potentially awesome midfield next year
2 Hills
Neale
Blakely
Weller
Fyfe
Mundy
Bennell

Life is looking good Ye Ha

I would have thought a straight swap for Ed Langdon would be fair to both parties.

Brad Hill is clearly a better player than Langdon at the moment, but they are similar types with their run. If anything Langdon is faster.
I think he would slot into Hills role at Hawthorn seamlessly. Langdon is also 3-4 years younger, is Victorian, and doesn't have the legal issues that Hill has.
Hill is contracted, but with Clarkson's comments and the way Hawthorn and Fremantle have had discussions so far, the Hawks are clearly open to the move.
Freo can't afford to lose picks, so any picks involved would be swaps to upgrade or downgrade the value of the trade.

Oh this is fun. Someone on the Hawks board has suggested Hill, Litherland and Schoenmakers for Fyfe and Freo's (non-existent) second rounder. Leaving small issues with wild optimism aside, why would any Hawks supporter think Fyfe would go to the home of Sammy the Knee, the person whose actions have led to 18 months being sliced off his career?
Langdon would be a starting point for discussions for a trade but Hawthorn would want more than that so the club may have to look at 2017 draft picks. I'd like Brad Hill at Freo but McCarthy is infinitely more of a need, Freo doesn't have a second rounder and pick 3 is off the table (any anyway I want SPS more than Hill or McCarthy)

Do I want B Hill - yes.
Do I want to lose Langdon - no.

It's hard to see them fitting into the same team though... But at the moment does Langdon have more upside ??

I'd trade out ibbo if at all possible given we have surplus hbf'ers

Where are we next year? After today & this season I dont think we need to pay up for Brad. We will still be rebuilding next year and Brad being here or not wont cure the rebuild. If we can get him cheap ok. Otherwise wait a year and use the uncontracted, one club only benefits and get him psd or something on a par.

This. ^

That Hawks board is diabolical stuff. Pumping up Hill and asking for our first rounder/Fyfe/Neale while the other half talk down Hill as a soft spud who they want out.

Funny how all the Hawk supporters are now overvaluing Hill. If he doesn't want to be there just be grateful to get a third/fourth rounder.
Remind me how this attitude went with Cam McCarthy...

I don't disagree that undervaluing isn't helpful either. But you think we should have traded our second rounder last year and first rounder this year for McCarthy plus maybe some more to satisfy GWS? So we'd be without pick 3 this year and wouldn't have Tucker on our list. And this year we'll likely get Cam for a fraction of that. Sounds like a very intelligent argument, good work!

Personally I'd prefer we kept Langdon over Hill.

Same but if Langdon wants a Vic Club and Hill wants Freo it makes sense and cuts all the concern about draft picks. Langdon may be unders but it can be sorted with an additional later draft pick.

Langdon is gone guys..unless hes had a change of heart from a week ago. But brad hill? Really?
Id rather offload s hill for sicily and there first pick if the brothers want to play together so badly!

Anything more than 3rd round pick no deal for Cam.

Now you're getting a bloke who hasn't played footy for more than 12 months...
You haven't even got him yet. You don't have a second rounder and won't give up pick 3, so no guarantees he is coming.

I agree with this. A player exchange plus a pick downgrade is the best option for us. No loss of picks at all, and we keep our first rounder. Even if it involves another club, I still think from our end this is what it should look like.

And if we don't, so be it - we can't sell the farm for one guy who isn't proven yet. We don't have the luxury of discounted academy selections to ensure we always get a high first rounder like some other teams ;)
