As far as i'm concerned they are. The man ups on these two players is CRITICAL.

If we let those two run loose, well sonny jim, there'll be some goals aplenty.

Disagree. Akermanis is the barometer, when he fires the Dogs fire. But Hudson is their most important, defeat him and they have noone else to turn to.

I rate akermanis highly against us as well
Akermanis and Cooney are the big 2 (Baker and Jones?) Boyd and lenny should probs go head-to-head, they'll try and tag Dal and Monty. Eagleton is a non-entity imo. He'll be running scared around half forward wondering when the big bad saints defenders are gonna hit him.

Johnson, Eagleton, Akermanis, Higgins, Murphy, Cooney, Griffin can all be very dangerous players if you let them run free. All will need to be guarded closely.

Gilbee is another one you really need to shut down as he is a real playmaker off half back and is a very good, long kick. Take him out of the game and the Dogs tend to struggle.

Interesting on Footy Classified last night, Grant Thomas was asked to name his St Kilda team for the match and he had Hudghton and Dempster in for Dawson and Eddy. I'm inclined to agree with those changes as Hudghton has done a great job shutting down the likes of Brad Johnson before and Dempster is a good run with type defender, who can be used on one of their dangerous mid sized forwards. He could also be used as a defensive forward to shut down Gilbee.

I have heard a lot of names to describe Eagleton but Critical and gamebreaker are not some of them. He has played well over last month but is hardly player Saints need to worry about before Cooney, Akermanis, Gilbee, Hudson, Higgins and Boyd etc

Would be surprised if Hughton plays, has played well on BJ in past when he played at FF, but nowadays he plays across flanks and spends much more time up ground and spends minimal time at FF.

I imagine Cross will try to do to Hayes what he did to Black last week and stop your main clearance winner and reduce supply out to Montagna and Dal Santo, Picken will get job on Montagna and Boyd will go HH with Dal Santo.

Absolutely spot on. Eagleton's delivery by foot to a target inside 50 is poor by anyone's standards, regularly puts the ball over the head of his teammates. If we hurt them in the stoppages and minimise space as is our gameplan, we will win the game.

Eagleton is a sheep dog who stands on the wings and then runs forward of center and kicks long inside 50 or kicks goals himself. Must keep him on a leash.

Eagle can be criticised about a few things maybe, but not delivery into the forward line, its one of his strengths, had 5 score assists last Friday

Our major gamebreaker is Cooney, he's hitting top form and is our most dangerous player IMO. When he's winning it in close and breaking the lines he is awesome

Luckily for us you don't have any gamebreakers. We're all over that no.12 guy and not at all concerned by him :D

1) i recall a lot of "bombing into the forward line" from the dogs last friday as well

and

2) against the saints I still think the major gamebreaker is aker and in regards of cooney I am of the opinion he's carrying something as he's not as damaging as last year. Aker one the other hand has the ability to smash a few quick goals at the required time and stop momentum and turn games (particularly recall a game in 08 i think where he kicked 3 goals in 5 minutes and broke the game open).

Well he wasn't earlier in the year but he's clearly fine now. You mustn't have taken much notice last week end when he was probably BOG.

Haven't seen him much over past 6-7 weeks, I hope StKilda coaching staff think same and put Jones to someone else.....but i doubt it

Hahn is our barometer, when he is firing and playing well other players around him seem to play better. I talking about murphy, johnson, higgins, aker in that forward fifty. Shut him down with one of your defenders and your on your way, pay him no respect and watch him kick three or four goals.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter who plays on these two as all of our players are extremely defensive minded when without the ball but the selection of Dempster might be handy to run with one of these blokes.

Guys you are forgetting about Hahn. If you let him run riot you could have a problem on your hands.
