It ain't happening mate, Eade has publicly stated that their pick 5 is off-limits.
Symes for pick 28 is probably the most likely scenario.

Lets say that I doubt Port will trade Symes or White for a low second rounder unless the players in question specifically state they want out.
It is not a strong draft and we have plenty of youngsters that need gametime.
IMO it will be either a package for a good draft pick or we get a player in return. If not they stay put.
A package of White plus Symes plus tweaking at the edges with draft picks and or pick upgrades is worth a good first rounder IMO.
So you obviously rate Symes then?

Yeah I agree and can see something like this happening but you will not get the Bulldog first round draft pick.
I can see you guys getting Jordan McMahon from the dogs and trading Symes to us and to finalize the Trifecta we will send Hudson to the Bulldogs.

I've always been with Macca23 on this one, yes I do.
The only question is will he develop that one more side to his game and become top shelf or near top shelf or stay as he is and be mediocre to above average. He is young enough to give him time and going by Choco he is a hard worker (wrt training) so we fully expect him to improve and get there.
By one more side I do not mean anything in particular but any one extra thing to complement his ball getting ability and decent skills. Could be tighter checking, toughness, bit more speed, stamina etc.
What have we got?
10, 27, 28 and possibly 22
I'd trade 28, Port will want 10 or 22, we'll crack and give them 10 and it'll be Matty Bode/Shaun Burgoyne all over again. Is that how it's meant to happen?
We didn't crack when Port wanted pick 16 for white and we only wanted to give them pick 17 2 years ago, what makes you think they'll do any different this time.

I agree, if that is true I'm still shaking my head over that one
I like Symes, classy player, played well in both Grand Finals (had more touches v Geelong that Motlop, Ebert, Westhoff combined i.e. not that many)
but not exactly the player to fill our biggest needs. I think we need leg speed in the midfield, a crumber, a marking forward (doesnt everyone) and a ruckman. We';ve got players like Symes. If he is so good, why were Logan, Bentley and LONIE playing ahead of him in the second half of the year? Choco isn't stupid, must be a reason
Besides Port overate their players during trade week. If they refused pick 17 for White 2 years ago that was stupid. Same with the whole Stevens trade fiasco (which position does "high moral ground" play?) Given our capacity to cave in will end up trading pick 10, VB, Knights, Thommo, Maca and Goody for him. Mind you at least if Thommo went to Port the Cornes counter would go in 2008, which would be a shame because it is just so fresh and funny in week 50
^ symsey is contracted by the power and port have allowed him to be interviewed by the crows. this tells me that a deal may have already been struck between the 2 clubs which both have agreed on and that the club is talking to brad in relation to convincing him to come to the crows.
i mean, why else would port allow a contracted player to have a meeting with a rival club if they werent serious on trading him there.

I didnt realise that he was meeting with the Crows. Well Port are obviously happy to let him go which sucks hopefully we get something decent for him

Symes has played 20 games in 4 years and will always be a guy with good ball winning abilities but a lack of speed, average disposal and no outstanding quality. I cannot believe we are considering trading away a 2nd round pick for Symes. Reid just went on about how we’re trying to stockpile as many early draft picks as possible and yet here we are on the verge of throwing one away for an average half back flanker. Unbelievable stuff.
