I want to prove to someone that he is an absolute idiot for even thinking that Ponting is better than Bradman so just vote for Bradman and I can prove him as an absoulte tool and can stop wasting my time arguing with idiots

Can't compare players from different eras.

Ponting's average (59) in the long form of the game is very good, but I hear people say it should be well into the 60's. The best batsman in our time, so hes been consistent.

Bradman's record speaks for itself - I don't need to show you the statistics. However, he played some 60 years ago, hardly a fair comparison.

am i the only aussie who simply can't stand ponting? great player (most of the time), but there's something about him that's unlikeable. frigged if i know what really.

The 2nd head?

Bradman by miles

Don't forget he played on uncovered pitches and his average of 99.94 was somewhere around 40 runs better than the next best

Ponting averages 59ish, but Dravid, Kallis, Lara + Tendulkar [in their prime] averages near what Ponting does

Bradman was better but there are differences over eras:
Bradman played 52 tests (over ~18 years) including there being no tests for 7-8 years due to WW2 compared to today's crickters who play up to 20 tests a year.
Bradman played on uncovered pictures
Bradman played on bigger grounds (no ropes)
There were no planes, so trips to England last 3 weeks by ship and tours lasted 9 months
However, he only played tests in 2 countries (Aus and Eng) never played in India or Pakistan.
Bradman never played in an era of ODIs or 20/20 which has changed the game substantially

Overall Bradman was not only a great player for all eras, but he was even better for the fact that the disadvantages of playing then compared to now were greater

For the record, I dont think you can compare them. Having said that I think it says something about how good Ponting is that he is even compared to Sir Don. Probably the best players in their era.

heard of someone do a statistical study on Bradman. Cricket has been played for a long time. the era crap is irrelevant. because bradman was that much better than anyone in his own era it is stupid to compare. Bradman was a 1/100,000 test cricketer. seeing as only 400 players have played for Australia it may take another 25,000 years of test cricket for another bradman. a statistical freak
