Injury Brandon Parfitt Hamstring Injury - Out for 8-10 weeks

The club should have done better- he is a young bloke playing an extreme sport and they just kept pushing him until he broke down - should have been 'managed' last week, never mind this week.
That is an unfair comment, not based on knowledge of how he is being monitored.
Even if you were one of us who might have suggested that 2 weeks ago.

Looked similar to Johannisen's hamstring injury last season which cost him 10 weeks. Would mean he's a chance to get back in the team in the latter stages of the H&A season but I also wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him until 2018.
If it is as serious as that - don't want to see him until 2018.

Also they should have a rule for young players and ACLs: 2 years

On what basis? 12m is ample. Who is "they"?
Doubt Christian Petracca would be showing us his wares on that suggestion.

.
That is pretty much true of any comment ever made on BigFooty

Was this still the type of game that we usually lose? Give it up mate. It's boring.
Still following me around quoting my every post. Cute. :D:thumbsu:

Although we'd all probably appreciate it if you stay on topic. This is about Parfitt's injury, not your twisted panties. :thumbsu:

On the basis of the amount of times I have seen young player get an ACL. Then get another soon after. Body needs to grow and needs time. If you haven't noticed this, that is for you figure.

And yes there are exceptions. So what?

2 years for a first year recruit is neither practical nor necessary. Not even the othopods who are very conservative with their subjects would advocate 2 years to rehabilitate an ACL, not that it is not a good idea.
But most young players are recruited for 2 years max first contract. So what then?
It's not about exceptions- some players are susceptible to getting ACL's and it's not an age issue. Patton, Menzel, Alex Johnson, Morabito- just their anatomy. If you're advocating that they would not have copped the second injury after having the 2 years off, how do you explain receiving the first injury anyway, and what about those that occur in a mid 20's player?

Jim , was a really a fatigue type injury? Sure if he was sore or had some sort of Hammy feeling but he didn't look like that , and he did it while on full speed.. it just seemed a player who had over stretched going hard , not someone who broke down. Anyway I doubt he will be for a long time now.

Was it just me that thought he was flying when it went twang, and I mean in that particular contest... he has eaten up a fair bit of ground lead the pies players had over him... was seriously moving..

Which I assume is how it went, pushing to absolute capacity on already fatigued legs?

I was thinking he might have even beat them to it and start what could have been an amazing play

Hopefully recovery isn't too long because he has impressed me immensely so far
They way he baulks around opponents with m

I don't have to explain anything. From what I have seen that is my opinion.

And it's generally considered by people in the field who do the research that 2 years is when the joint is back 100%. Back when my son got his done, I looked this up, and I noted the research done on it.

Something tells me you're taking on the wrong person.

And I'm not sure why people take people on here to be honest.

I personally don't think a 6 game stretch would be considered unreasonable for a young player, though I'm obviously no expert.

I know he had some injuries prior to the draft, were any of these hammie related?

When can we expect news on the severity from the club? Suspect, at best, we won't see him until after the bye again. If it's tendon related then that's worse. I had 10 weeks off for a torn hip flexor tendon (and went down like a sack of shit like Parfitt did yesterday, physically couldn't stand) and then did a partial tear in my first game back. 6 weeks on I'm playing again but I can feel the strength isn't there and it's a risk every time I kick.

Probably in 2-3 months.

What does a muscle tear feel like?

Painful but I t's nowhere near as intense as a ligament (which I've also done). The hip flexor tear I did was where the tendon connects to the muscle. More than the pain though I remember my quad just refusing to be weight bearing and I ended up face down on the court and not entirely sure how to go about standing up.
