Literally how, we have nothing left bar 19. We LOST points on the trade...

Probably says that Freo hate this draft but don’t want to give up 12 for McVee yeah?

So retain a late first and not bother with the later draft picks because you won’t do more than the minimum.

Mate, would "The Dom" have done that trade in a million years? There's a whole trade period to play out and to get a trade done for out of contract player we've accepted the first deal we came across that is actually complete horseshit (McVee for 23 is fine, not the issue).

You dont throw away draft capital, Brisbane certainly never do.

We gave up a future 2 and jack gunston for Brandon Ryan 🤷

It’s miles easier for Dom given we are operating in a different economy with draft points. Most of the time we’ve been trying to get those sort of late picks back.

Nah, if anything, that means Freo have to be more ruthless. They cant go and complain about points kids then go throw draft capital away for no reason

So (and this is the same argument I'm having with others)? You dont just throw shit away for the sake of it. Brisbane clearly dont, Geelong clearly dont.

Absolutely ludicrous trade from Freo as it stands
Geelong went into the last years draft with out a first. They've learned to nail drafts by finding players at the back end. Their trade in pushed them deep into finals.

That's not relevant to the point, they still maximise every draft asset they have. Smith, Dangerfield and Cameron all for peanuts.

Best to judge after the draft. Briztoon tells me this is a weak draft so Freo might not be interested in later picks anyway.

Snuff- I get why you are frustrated, but theres a potential that maybe Fremantle has maximised the draft and trade assets they have.

Like Zhou EnLai said "its too soon to say".

The chance is of that is quite small given the contract status of the player and how quick the trade was done. i'm mature enough to admit fault if it comes to it though

Teams rarely leave a Dom trade empty handed, especially when they helped to facilitate a deal…there’s probably more to come…wait till it’s all done and dusted 👍

Pick 12 to pick 19 with the knowledge that Carlton, Gold Coast and Lions bid match will push their pick back up to 15 somewhere. Same with their 46 as well, will move higher.

I think Freo have played a fair hand in a shallow draft - got a best 22 player in McVee, stayed in the top 15 draft pick range as well. We'll consolidate our third rounds eventually so I'm sure there will be a way for them to get help to match NGAs if they need it.

We did 12 and 33 for 19 and 23 (literally less points for the higher pick) and then on top of it gave up 50 and 44 for 46. It’s ****ing atrocious, yet alone doing this early.

We had too much for McVee so traded our whole hand away for no reason bar helping other teams get their trade done...
Slide back 7 spots at your first round pick to only go up 10 picks to 23, does seem a little light, then you’ve thrown pick 50 on top for nothing.

There isn’t any other teams with that high first rounder / low second rounder combination at the moment though. Nothing saying that won’t change, but equally nothing saying other teams won’t strengthen their hands to out bid you.

Given the way the deal has been reported, multiple missed attempts maybe something is missing.

Thread has taken a wild turn

I prefer the Brisbane posters laughing at the Cats supporters more than the Brisbane posters providing therapy for the Freo supporters if im honest

All still better than everything in the thread before the trade was done however

We’re just concerned about our friend Snuff. This trade has hit hard even though it’s not that bad.

Now that the trade is official and WCE and the Lions got a fair deal, can we finally put aside the bad blood that was created earlier and kiss?

🥺👉👈

Guess everybody is ok with the AFL letting the Lions and Eagles tamper with the FA system so eagles dont dilute the allen compo and lions get more for starca than they would otherwise..
Oh absolutely, gotta admire the creative accounting. The AFL handed out “FA loophole loyalty cards,” and Swannie made sure the Lions and Eagles got a few extra tucked into the paper bag. Eagles safeguard their compo, Lions inflate their return, and the rest just clap politely and admire. “Bravo!”

Everyone knows the AFL want to give the Eagles pick 2 as a quasi priority pick, we have just leveraged this.

It’s kind of like the sympathy pick the AFL gave the Saints last year for Battle.

Cry harder bro, while your club is stealing players from clubs that’ve done the hard work of drafting and developing talent, you have no basis on which to be moralising or lecturing others

And don’t even get me started on the inherent advantages Victorian clubs enjoy but tend to deny exist!
