Pft Thomas is a dog who has been lucky to have kicked any. It's been a fine night for Maynard.

His opponent got best on ground and tore us apart with 5 goals while Maynard coughed up even more goals with horrendous mistakes

It's amazing how biased people's views are on Collingwood players, everything through rose glasses

Make that 5 & you can pft all you like. He has been pantsed tonight because he hasn't been tight enough.
I'll stand up for him every day of the week so don't bother trying to tell me he wasn't good enough. He was in our top 5 players and I don't care about Thomas kicked 5 because there could have been 20 other players that could have played tighter.

Rose coloured glasses or backing in a player that shows promise who needs some time? It was a good experience for him to play on Thomas. Plenty of players have had 5 kicked on them and become fine players. Maynard will be one of them.

As I said I like the kid, but tonight he was poor. You can deny it as much as you like if it makes you feel better.
He has plenty of great games ahead of him. He will not look back fondly on this one.

Im feeling fine :) I'll back my judgement of his game.

He will look back at that game as a learning curve sure. He'll get some big wraps for some of the things he did tonight and they will go through the mistakes and he will learn. This is what's going to get him to those great games in the future.

Agreed, what a brilliant learning curve it was for all our boys tonight :rainbow::rainbow::rainbow:

I don't know how much footy you've played but it's actually quite hard to learn anything from losing....

That's why clubs like Gold Coast Carlton and Melbourne have woeful development of their young players, while the top teams keep producing great young kids ready to go. Your opponent embarrassing you on national TV only hurts development, to say it helps is beyond a joke.

Maynard was pantsed by his direct opponent, and made yet another calamitous error (inb4 he's only 19/20, a 10 yr old wouldn't have made that mistake) which directly resulted in a goal to the opposition. He'll do this all his career, he's limited. Just a very, very dumb footballer.

Maynard has played - less than 20 games? For his age and experience he will have some bad games and make shocking errors. He is also playing in a difficult position, and in a backline which has had some very poor performances. Mistakes like he made tonight are amplified because of where they occur in the field of play, and the horrendous outcomes.

But he has to stay in the team and learn. He has to be developed. Overall his performance this year is positive.

I knew this crap would be posted. He's been tremendous for over a month and one bad game and he's inferred as being a spud.

Well this, all 5 goals of that turd Thomas weren't kicked on him, maybe 3 art most. Is that great? No.

I'll tell you what though, he was one of about 6 blokes for us that had a crack tonight, even though he royally screwed a few things up.

He was way better than the non existent Cloke for instance. Or Fas, or Marsh, or half of the rest of them.

Im not here to argue with you, although u do make it easy, but obviously YOU havnt played any competitive sport in your life, its a cliche for a reason, everyone knows you LEARN more from loosing then you do winning!!!! Although you seem like someone thats always won so its no surprise you know nothing.

That was probably the worst thing I've ever seen a professional footballer do ever. Couldn't care less how well he played outside of that blunder, that erases everything. Total momentum killer if there even was any. Could have been 6 points closer in that final quarter, enough to give the extra push.

GWS say hi those blokes lost 21 straight not to long ago and are looking alright now. You can learn a lot from losing just as you can from winning. No matter the result you always have to assess your game and see where you were poor and where you were good
