When onfield success is too difficult to deal with, poster seeks other areas of the club to complain about.
That's got to be the dumbest thing you've ever said. And that's a tough hill to climb.

If he wasn't our president you'd have a different opinion which says it all. The old guard want to stick their heads in the sand as per usual.

This is quite the post.

Let's just pretend like our president has done nothing wrong then attack posters and link it to football results.

Interesting angle to take.
When you know a little bit more, you'll post a little less.

That's exactly what posters were doing mid year, linking results to Sayers

But when deep into our winning streak not a word

Win/loss analysis

Every consulting business in the world makes most of its easy money by doing work for the Government and Public Service and part of the return for doing basically rubbish work for rubbish reasons is the fact that the IP gained from doing rubbish work for rubbish reasons is then packaged up as internal IP sold to other clients who need to navigate the outcomes of doing rubbish work for rubbish reasons concocted by rubbish people.

Sayers is a convenient target for people to point a finger at - but a CEO of an accounting form is more a figurehead than anything else- a marketer and manager and arbitrator for internal purposes. Even in internal disputes a CEO has little to no actual 'power' to exercise over the hundreds of mini autonomous revenue generating fiefdoms that make up teh landscape of any accounting firm - same goes for any Investment Bank and other types of consulting firms that do business.

Accounting firms are just collections of many many small business units run by partners who have their own contractual obligations to each other and their own teams - the accounting form is just a brand name umbrella which says nothing about how the actual business is run.

You don't care what he's done? Are you serious? The best predictor of the future is the past.

The guy presided over a toxic culture as reported in their own investigation and you think that's OK?

This sort of attitude is why criminals get away with stuff and continue to commit further crimes.

That’s right. I don’t care what he’s done in his professional life as part of PWC. They’re all crooks at the top mate. And governance of a football club vs governance for these large “Fortune 500” companies are 2 totally different things. I only care what he’s done/is doing as the president of the Carlton Football Club and so far he’s done a good job imo

So you're saying you know all about Sayers activity at PWC that exonerates him and I should shut up.

Toxic as mate.
I've seen points missed by further, but not often. This one's just for you:

Sayers job as Carlton president has to be commended. Like a lot of people, I had my doubts about him given he was on the board for 9 years and then things were looking terrible first half of this year so those doubts grew. The fact that this was all going on while PWC was being investigated and plastered all over the media in a negative light - there's absolutely nothing wrong with people thinking that was having an impact on his ability to perform his duties as Carlton president.

To his credit, he held his ground and said we'll judge the season as a whole. Then the Blues turned it around with a record result of going from bottom 4 in round 15 to 3rd by the end of the season. The most promising thing was, they did that despite missing many top 10 players through injury. It was the first time in 20+ years that we had a team that didn't rely on stars to consistently win important games of football.

He has mostly spoken about winning games of football and he's jumped on podcasts for a chat and genuinely looked devastated that we lost the prelim. His tenure will be up end of next year regardless.

You clearly work in the industry. Your whole post is spot on.

Great post.

If you’re coming to this thread with an open mind and haven’t experienced a Big 4 environment this is a very accurate representation.

Anyone who has to use the 'services' of these rent-seeking regulations-based industries (arms of government) bludgers knows what they are - I'm just a battler.

It's very Carlton to overlook a bit of dodginess from our corporate overlords as long as the team is doing well on-field.

Are you even a real Carlton President if you haven't had been indicted for corporate crimes?
At least his time as Chair of Guide Dogs Victoria was all above board.......

For those who want a little more insight into Senate Inquiry into PWC and Sayers appearance:

read it - it is indecipherable apart from Labor Party senator outraged by companies who don't want to pay tax

LOL

and Liberal senator outraged by failure to recollect stuff that happened a decade ago...

LMAO

what a load of RUBBISH - if there is case to be made against Sayers or anyone else - there is a Federal Department filled with lawyers who can lay charges to be tested by prosecutors for court worthiness and then if these thoughts are Court worthy - Sayers and whoever else can be prosecuted in real Courts of Law which actually have to deal with 'Law'.

love how jopurnalists point to how much a.b. c or d have earned - as if earning money is a crime...

this is a classic 'trial by media' - puff pieces for irrelevant back benchers in the Senate wanting to make a name for themselves. an leaning on their journo mates who are desperate for clickbait to make up nonsense that is unintelligable

Don't mind the true purpose of these enquiries; to improve laws and policy. The theatre can cloud that.

For those who want a little more insight into Senate Inquiry into PWC and Sayers appearance:

Always people with axes to grind and agendas that are personal more than anything to do with public interest.
The whole thing is going nowhere and as usual taxpayers money being wasted on enquiries that havent any purpose at all, because the media demands it.

Oh don't get me wrong - I have no doubt whatsoever that every accounting firm/consultant/investment bank is doing ' the wrong thing' all the time.

I just laugh at the theatre of it all...the same politicians and Department heads in the public Service are responsible for the outsourcing of Public Service to all these consulting firms- and the same politicians and senior public servants all seem to find themselves in cushy jobs after they leave politics or the 'public service' in these businesses- eg how many ex politicians found jobs iat Maquarie Bank? Freydenberg is Chairman of Gold Mand Sachs- LMAO he wouldn't know the first thing about anything to do with bnking/ivnestmetn banking/prop traidng/stock broking - he is there to help them open doors for business with Govmint and public servants

It is all rubbish - I just posted on this topic because of the strident nonsense that was being hurled at Sayers as if he has done things that are 'criminal'.....
