Fitzy the only one in that group with anywhere near the qualities required for the job. I'm not against a "celebrity" board member. But not for Chair, maybe for a media/comms oversight role.

Would be a bunch of other potential candidates, most of which we've never heard of. I know of one who would almost certainly be canvassed for the role (has been asked to join the board before, but declined).

Does it matter who took the photo? I'm assuming he is responsible for not deleting the photo when he became aware of it. His lack of intelligence is the other thing that's been exposed.

If it was the president of another club, I'm sure he wouldn't be given the same levels of forgiveness and sympathy that many here have chosen.

Sure, but that applies irrespective of whether the post was made or not. That was just the vehicle which has highlighted what may be a conflict of interest. It also has implications for Carlton, not just Sayers.

As I read it, Sayers doesn't deny it was his photo, but states his phone was compromised. This could be read in any of a number of ways. Whatever, I do wish all involved all the best. The mental toll on some must be enormous...

It's obviously not a selfie. That means someone else probably snapped it with his phone. The phone would need to be unlocked for that. Easily done with Face ID or fingerprint these days if someone is passed out or asleep. They therefore had opportunity to post it to social media.

If he's left himself open to blackmail, sextortion, revenge-pron, then I get that's still a scandal, but more a personal one.

He shouldn't have resigned if he was totally innocent and a victim of blackmail.

I don't know how it happened but if he knowingly kept a photo like that on his phone he's a ******* idiot. Particularly for someone who has a high profile and is in the public eye.

Once you are in the public eye you just have to do things by the book, regardless of whether he posted it or who, if he allowed it to happen by allowing an image like this to exist then he's a moron considering his position.

I'm thinking he was told to step down, best case scenario for everyone, avoid a lot of mess.
