Honestly who cares. The whole Carlton board need to * off back to obscurity where they are never heard or seen.

Brian Cook is the only person I want to hear from. And what I want to hear from him is that he's sacking Brad Lloyd and re-working the coaching group.

See I disagree with this regarding the board, I think now with Mathieson gone, it can function as a proper board with capable people on it without the spectre of the Pratts/Mathiesons hanging over them saying "remember how much I donate" every second day.
Cook is the best CEO in the caper, that's not opinion, that's fact.

I've always found it strange that people come on here claiming that they have contacts - the assumption here is that they therefore know more than us plain old supporters.

I note that your contacts told you that Fisher was playing last week.

You also state that your contacts told you that we had approached Hardwick 6 weeks ago - when we were 4th on the ladder and Hardwick had two years to go on his contract. Seems to be a regurgitation of something that Fev alluded to. Not sure as to whether you posted this 6 weeks ago or thought that it was too inflammatory at the time and thought it was better to keep it to yourself.

Its not obvious. In fact its not even factually correct or supported by any evidence or rhetoric. Its only supported by 2 buffons with the Mathieson name and that should say enough about the credibility of the inference. Sayers actually has the full support of the board, now that Craig is gone. He is not going anywhere.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment here .. I think the other poster was more alluding to the PWC situation & the fact Sayers may very well (OK more than may) get caught up in the ramifications thereof

It's actually not obvious at all. But he might.

PWC have 8000 staff in Australia. About 6 years ago one of their top tax experts was hired by the government to help draft legislation to help stop multinationals avoid tax. Stupidly enough this bloke thought he'd be clever and use this info on behalf of PWC to get more business by using the knowledge that he'd got from the government's contract.

Bloke in question got banned for a couple of years. Now it is down to others in the company that we're made aware of the info and thought it was a good idea to take advantage of it.

Like most large companies PWC would have maybe 7 different departments the heads if each would report to the CEO (at the time Luke Sayers). The taxation department would be one of these.

It is a perfectly reasonable assumption that Sayers had absolutely no knowledge of what happened. People would be paid plenty to ensure that there departments run to their satisfaction and ensuring that there is no need for the CEO to get involved.

It is also perfectly reasonable to assume that the CEO knew about it and turned a blind eye. It appears that the senate committee has a record of all of the people involved via email chains so there will be nowhere to hide if he was involved.

Sorry for the long post but there is a large gap between "he is a crook and must go" to the actual reality.

Nice to read something that sticks to mostly facts and has no real agenda involved. If anything it's much more positive than reading the endless agenda driven criticisms here would suggest. Well done Gleeson.

Before he became CEO he ran their tax and legal area. There's a separate case with the federal court about pwc helping a Brazilian company avoid tax too - under Sayers 'watch'

Without going too far into this, because frankly PWC internal structure is likely very boring, why do you think it matters if Sayers knew?

Sayers should have known is the problem, he's either incompetent or broke the law. Either way he should politely step aside so that the club isn't drawn into the mess.

Allan Fels is an 81 year old best known for a role that finished with the ACCC 20 years ago.

He is perfectly entitled to his opinion but like everyone else who has no involvement whatsoever in the case it is just an opinion.

No it doesn't, do the Mathieson's donate money because they love the club or because they want a say in what going on. Surely their priority is success for Carlton, which we have had none of since they jumped on at board level.

How so? From all accounts the business the company received as a result of the duplicitous scheme was a very very small amount of the total turnover of the company.

If he had no knowledge whatsoever of the scheme then he is innocent and has nothing to answer for.

If he did then he should be on his way.
