The ideal outcome, and i am strongly hoping that is falls this way, is that we retain Caf and Tooves and trade/delist Jmac and S Buckley on one basis alone.
They are clearly the better players and when fit are , i believe best 22.
With the greatest of respect JMac and Sb are 25 to 32 range players with more than adequate cover for them also.
The machinations of lis and the tradet management may not allow it to go this way, but i believe we must 'manage ' our list for this outcome.
Its this time of year that operational and executive management earn their keep and if im right we are very strong in this department of our club!!

If think it's more of a exchanging positions in the 2nd round + here's McCarthy straight up instead of hoping he'll get through the PSD to you.
So we'd give up our pick, and move up 6 or so positions in that round.

I assumed the 2nd round position swap was for McCarthy.
I'd want a 2nd round pick straight up for Macaffer.

No he is not. It says depends on Tooveys situation. Toovey will leave so Caff should stay. Id be devestated if the club would rather keep Toovey than MaCaffer.

Don't rule him out just yet.
Like TRS has said, there are many pieces in play at the moment (Tooves, McCarthy) and if one goes, it could open the door to retain the others. As TRS has said though, if we sign one it will signal to the rest of the comp that we have well and truly maxed our cap and we lose all leverage against teams for a possible trade.

What makes you assume that Caff will be going?
Didn't the deadline just pass for uncontracted players? GWS would be best destination for Toovey or Cafe, but they'd only get their now by PSD.

That article leads me to think more than anything else that we're trying to retain MacAffer. We'd have told him if no offer was to be forthcoming and just tried to find him a new home IMHO, rather than leave him in the dark, if he was no longer required.
Let's hope we can stitch up a deal for Tooves somewhere fast.

Yep, he might have to get used to that sound actually signifying dissent soon.
There certainly would be interest in Tooves when you look at some of the actual hacks clubs are interested in during trade week so far.
Problem at the moment is, Tooves is out pricing himself out of the entire picture.

Nasty indeed. I think in many ways it was inevitable. All the teams that experience success over a period end up with salary cap issues. With us the squeeze is on Tooves and Caff. It's unfortunate for us and a lose lose situation really. All I can hope is that we get the best possible compensation for whoever we lose. And who knows maybe we are lucky and manage to keep them both. It's not over yet.
